No interior lights or door lights? UPDATE PT3!

Featured Replies

Hi guys - just go my car back from the repairs after this little crash: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/182400-yet-another-crash/page__p__2189001__hl__crash__fromsearch__1entry2189001

All seems pretty good with the repair & i'm happy to have my furby back after having to put up with a Peugeot 107 for 2 months!!!

However, i've just nipped out in it & noticed that none of the interior lights work, the doors lights arent working (the red ones) & even the glove box one isnt working!!

Is this a blown fuse or something else?

I asked the garage to clean/valet my seats after they had finished repairing thr car. However, they had just finished cleaning the seats when i turned up & they were still damp & there was loads on condensation. Could this be the cause?

Any ideas?

IIRC, all those items are fed from F4.

Yep - F4 10A fuse blown.

Went to replace it & I've got a box full of standard 10A blade fuses & not one mini blade fuse - typical!!

Trip to Halfords in the morning me thinks!

Thanks for the help RW.

ok update:

Replaced the F4 10A fuse & the interior lights came on! 'Yay' I thought 'All fixed'

However, my initial job was short lived when i found out that the Red door lights were still not working & the main interior light doesnt come on when i open the doors or come on when i unlock the car. (yes i do have the switch in the right place!)

Any help is always appreciated!

(on the plus side my glove box light now comes on!!!)

try opening different doors to see weather it activates the lights if one door doesnt activate the lights but the others do then i think there is a sensor in the door somewhere. try leaving your sidelights on and open drivers door see if the instrument panel makes a noise to alert you.

Drivers side door lock switch faulty (part of the lock assembly)

both drivers & passengers door red light isnt working.

The interior light doesnt come when either door is opened.

Do you think i can get this repaired as a fault that occured due to the accident? I'm 100% the lights were working be the car was taken away to be repaired.

Does the red light come on the dash to say the doors are open when they actually are ?

I had the reverse to what your having, the red door lights and main interior light wouldn't go off after closing the doors and the red light was on the dash to say one of the doors were open when they weren't and it turned out to be the switch in the door was nackered

Update2!

I've just discovered that the rear fog light is permantely on!!! At first i thought they had fitting the wrong bulb, but checked to see if the fog light came on & it doesnt, or is already on!

btw - does the Fabia VRS (53) have two fog lights or only one? & is it on the drivers/offside.

Another fault!!! The 'auto' open/shut feature of the front windows isnt working. I can open & close the windows but they dont automattically shut or open all the way when i release the door switch. The windows just stop.

The 'door open' light on the dash is working. For both passenger & drivers door. Also, the door open buzzer is working if i leave the lights on.

Well, the cars going back hopefully today, but it would be nice to know whats causing this!

Only 1 fog light is wired in as standard.

For the windows - wind it up to the top, hold the switch in the up position once it's at the top. You should hear a clicking/popping noise which is the windows resetting. Try the auto thing again, it should work after a few trys/resets.

All I can help with - sorry!

Thanks TF - thats sorted out the windows (both sides)

Lets hope the door light & the interior light coming on is just as easy.

Additional question - which side does the rear wash pipe run - offside (drivers) or nearside (passengers) because I've just found out that that isnt work as well!!!

Now I know it WAS working before the crash because the bulkhead connector had popped off the day before the acident & i connected it. Infact it was working the same day they had the car in for repair. I'm just wondering if they've done something!!

No worries - least one issue is done! Pretty sure the battery being removed causes these to go. Did they need to remove the power for the repair - easy way to tell - were the trip (MPG etc) values still there, or had they reset?

I think the wipers and interior lights (windows and locking) are controlled by a seperate ECU - the 'convinience unit' or something - maybe they've somehow damaged/altered that?

Pretty sure it's the passengers side of the car for the rear wiper - would seem pointless for it to cross the width of the car when it doesn't have too. . .

Update3!

Fog light has now been fixed.

However, I still have the problem of the doors light not working & the interior light not coming on when i remove the keys from the ignition & opening the doors. The garage of course is refusing to take the blame for this problem saying that its got nothing to do with them. But i reckon they've power surged the electrical box via the earth when they were welding.

I've taken a look through the Haynes manual & taken a look at the electrical diagram.

It seems that the lights aren’t getting power from the Electrical system control unit. So this could be faulty. However, is the ESCU shown in the diagram part of a bigger unit or is it on its own somewhere. If so - where is it??

Any help is always appreciated.

Cheers.

Might be a silly question, but could it be that the bulbs have blown?

  • Author

No, because the interior lights are working. If they are working then they should come on when the door opens but they arent.

  • 10 months later...

Did You get to the bottom of this?
