Laser Tools...........

Featured Replies

Some of you might have seen my earlier post about rewinding the pistons on the rear brakes. Just a tip, don't bother buying the Laser rewinding tool!

The one is spent £32 on is going back. The difference in the threads meant it didn't work.

An emergency trip to a mechanic mate to borrow a snap on tool and half hour later job done.

I paid £23 for my Laser tool and I have changed 4 sets of rear pads with no problems.

I think you might have just had a duff one.

What one did you have?

We have two wind back tools at work. One is right hand thread and one is left hand. Perhaps you may have used the wrong one. The piston retracts by winding it clockwise and pushing at the same time. It's not an exact science.....

I have a Laser rewind tool have done my Fabia MK1 VRS and son-in-law VW Passat, no problem.

Perhaps it's different strokes for different folks.emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Mines ok, worked fine for me

I've never heard of anyone having a problem before. £32 seems expensive and suggests that you may have bought the wrong tool.

Which tool did you buy?

I have the laser one too and have used it on several different cars (some VAG, some Japanese) . . . although I find with some cars it can take a little bit of faffing before it 'settles' and winds in smoothly.

Sorry can't fault the laser tool. At £19 and been used regulary is a must tool to ease rear pads changing.

You must have purchased a different type at £32. One that perhaps turns a different way so would never press the piston in if not turing clockwise. Or perhaps been ripped off and bought a duff one.

I have a number of laser tools for various jobs on the motor, most recent oil filter pliers, absolute great idea.
