Cigarette lighter splitter??

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a splitter for a cigarette lighter?

I have a car charger for my phone and GPS for my ipaw and both use the cigarette light, I know chuff all about cars and their wiring so don't fancy trying to hard wire either of them in.

Any ideas??

Yes - Halfords do a couple, of varying complexities and prices...

Rob.

Maplin do 'em, too!

I built one that plugs into the light socket and spilts, one end is near the centre console and the other feeds my IPAQ cradle near the driver heater vent.

Yes, I went for the Halfords 4 way socket; dead easy; plug it into the lighter socket and you have four outputs. Quite neat and can be screwed or velcroed in place (I'd recommend screws)

NOTE: you CANNOT use a cigarette lighter with the ones from Halfords (apparently they go on fire!!)

But its a great way to power moby's, sat nav, ipaqs etc etc etc and reasonably cheap and a lot easier than hard wiring

They do one which comes with a cigarette lighter - I don't think that one catches fire, but admittedly I've never tried it...

DOH!!! :o

I wish I'd known that......I'm orf to Halfords now to see if I can get one; my zippo is costing a fortune in petrol, wish Zippo did a diesel, chipped version :D

I stand corrected: must keep eyes open next time I'm in, although after the prosecution of the "apple eater" today and the news that smokers are going to be targeted next..........

Do you know if you can wire the ciggy lighter adapter into the back of the ciggy lighter (remove it and rewire it in)?

Don't see why not, it should just have two wires behind it...

 What a great idea....now why didn't I think of that??

"COS I'm stoopid!"

be right back, I'm orf to play with the hot end of a soldering iron

thanks for the tip (and I'm not talking to the soldering iron!)

Cheers guys! Trip to Halfords ASAP me thinks!!!

I've bought a second ciggy lighter holder and the small plastic cap as fitted to elegance boot accessory sockets.

Not got round to it yet but I intend to mount it under the dash somewhere or in the side of the centre console.

You can also get a dummy lighter marked 12v to put next to the handbrake

Might get one of those VRStu mentions - I've got a mini-fridge which might just make itself into the boot. Handy for sandwiches/picknicks, I can use the aircon cubbies in the front to keep some cans cool :D
