Wheel arches, whats best to clean them?

Featured Replies

As per the title realy. Whats best to get all the crud and muck out of the material in the arches?? I allways give them a good soak of snow foam, but it doesn't seem to make much of a differance :dull:

The last thing I want to do is use a product or brush that knackers the material  Any suggestions please??

jet wash?

Thanks. I thought that would be the kind of brush, but I'm worried about the felt type material in the arch. don't realy want to damage it .........

You'll be fine using a brush on fabric arch liners.

I use a circular washing up brush from Sainsburys on all the Maserati arches @ work....does the job just fine & mega cheap should you get overzealous with the scrubbing & the handle snaps :dull:;)

Ive always wondered why manufacturers used these as theyre a bitch to clean. I prefer the plastic ones anyday. A soft brush sounds good. Wonder if its something to do with sound insulation?

Exactly this reason. To reduce road roar from the tyres & the noise created by the airflow around the arch generated by the wheels spinning.

All Purpose Cleaner and a brush followed by a pressure wash if you have one

Best with the wheels removed of course

As stated by Chris, no chance of damaging that material, it's designed to withstand all sorts of grime and stuff hitting it............

Completely agree on them being a pain to clean, store so much dirt and water but as Chris has said, they are there for a reason................. :p

I'd go with what's been said already. I tend to use a Virosol or Meg's APC solution on them, with a cleaning brush.

Also, in addition to the sound insulation I think the felt-type material also helps to keep road spray down, compared with a simple plastic liner. But the sound issue is the main reason.
