There is a massive amount of threads if you do a search, the above are just two. Might help until someone else can answer your question.

I've been looking to soundproof my car-but apart from the boot area-I wouldn't trust myself to take the door cards off without breaking something (and I'll be gutted if that happens as its a new car).....it would be nice to know if this company are good and if someone has used their products or should we stick with Dynamat. Also, is there a company who will do your whole car where you would drive it to them in the morning and drive it away on the same day, and obviously how much they would charge.

I believe noisekiller still offer a fitting service, they did when they did my Subaru & did it at my house, handy if you want to keep an eye on people, especially if its a new car

Noisekiller want £199 for the kit and £190 to fit it at your location or £90 if you go to them...which I think is in Manchester. I'm not sure I like their kit......has anybody used a spray to sound proof the doors? I saw some on fleabay and I thought instead of having to remove the door cards and plastic cover you could probably insert a long tube up from the drain holes and it should be much easier-taking care not to block the drain holes. Has anyone got any pics of the inside of the vRS' doors (or any other Octavia for that matter) so you can see where to spray and what to avoid?

The thought of spraying blind into the door with the door & window mechanisms inside wouldnt be IMO a good idea. I would research carefully if others have done it & how good the end result was

I think its like many things, to get it done properly you have to pay the right price, there are loads of cheap alternatives for many things but they are often nowhere near as good.

Your right-I wouldn't do it blind, I would need to see whats inside the door. All you need is a a 3-4 inch line going across the door to stop it drumming and guess it would be better than just lining the inner door-so hoping someone has done it-or at least have pictures of the inside of the doors

Does that include fitting sound proofing in the doors?

Just had a look at the website and asked for a price including delivery and VAT.

From looking at the pictures the full kit only includes certain parts of the car. E.G. it isnt the full boot floor just the spare wheel well and the rear arch's.

Best price I can find on the internet for a bulk pack of Dynamat xtreme is £219 Inc VAT. Thats for 9 x sheets of 457mm x 812mm (18" x 32").

I would just buy the bonnet insulation which came as standard on my car but is now only fitted to the diesels. Makes a huge difference as compared to my mates 08 one like mine

I don't think its as comprehensive as it should be, I think I'll prefer to do the boot and under the rear seats on my own. Also, I didn't think the bonnet needs anything as my petrol engine is really quite-or are you saying there's a fair bit of drumming caused by the bonnet?

My car with it is much quieter than my mates without, never seen a need for noise killer anywhere else

When we got our Octavia Mk. 2 L&K in 2006, I had Noisekiller come and fit the full kit. It was the first Mk.2 they'd ever encountered, so it took some time to make up the templates, but every one they've treated since then will be based on our car! The fitter also gave me an instant discount on the acoustic blanket ,which does make a difference on a diesel. The only problem is that I have to remove it to check the oil or have the car serviced - garages don't know what to make of it. The fitter wouldn't soundproof the doors - too many loudspeakers and electrical gubbins to go wrong - and I certainly wouldn't spray anything inside them!

Noisekiller strongly recommended, but having seen the intricacy of the installation process I'd certainly let them do it. Having said that, the main sound source remains road noise - on a porous surface as you find in France the car is almost silent - in the UK some surfaces are dreadful. Having said which, a new set of Dunlop SPs have proved much quieter than the original fit - particularly noticeable on the atrocious concrete on the southern M25, which is now almost tolerable - almost.

I got the noise killer kit and suplimented it with second skin damplifier and second skin luxury liner. I lined the boot, the arches and under the rear seat. Boot and rear seat made the biggest difference. Arches less so, in fact the luxury liner didn't do a lot (fitted to the arches). As mentioned above tyres make a big difference, OE ones seems to be poor when it comes to road noise.

If I was to do it again I'd fit the noise killer kit and replace the rear tyres (currently continental sport contact 2 a.k.a noisy as hell) with something like Michelin PS3.

I had a full Noisekiller kit fiited to my facelift Octavia at the factory in Manchester a couple of months ago. The full kit includes sound deadening material under the carpets, rear seat, rear wheel arches, spare wheel well, boot floor, under boot carpet, and under the bonnet. They won't take the door cards off, but gave me some panels of self adhesive deadening material which I fitted to the outer and inner panels of the door when I changed the spaekers.

Made a very noticeable difference, I found it worthwhile and reasonable value.

Hi,

Very interesting thread. As far as I am concern the Yeti suffers the same problem the Octavia, which is road noise.

I too find the road noise extremel intrusive when driven over poorly or old motorways, however when I drive on the newly paved ones, it is almost silent and all I can hear is wind noise.

I note that one of the poster suggest changing tires would be a better idea, I am wondering whether Noisekiller was any good "killing" road noise and tire roar? At the moment the noise tire roar is coming from all over the place!

Thanks!

Edit: I had a look at this thread and watched the video at the end, engine noise seems to have reduced, but tire noise still remains? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/159944-noise-killer-now-fitted/page__hl__noisekiller__st__20

I like the idea of that - is it easy to fit?

It is not so much that mine is noisy - I just don't like the look of all those empty brackets on the bonnet underside !!! (Yes, I AM a fusspot!)

Yes, very very simple. Just open bonnet, cover engine to make sure no clips go were they shouldn't (not 100% required) and press the 12 clips on the pad home. 5 mins if not less. I think it only costs 26 - 30 GBP. I can now almost not hear my engine on tick over (1.8 TSI). Can't say it's made much difference to road roar though, so still have sound proofing the boot / under rear seats on my to do list.

Sorry I don't have the part number to hand... just search for bonnet pad or look in the parts sticky.

Regards

Simon

yes, what he just said! :giggle::thumbup:

Yes i agree it will also stop all the salty water from winter gritting getting into inaccessible areas under bonney skin. where from expirience is a nightmare to clean. but if you don't it may cause rust from underside

'Sounds' interesting :)

What was the total fitted price?

Cheers,

Having just had my car sound proofed by the NK Group also know as Noisekiller Accoustics in Oldham, I would warn that the resulting soundproofing or noise reduction is close to none!

Save your money is my advice.

I spent my money on a dodo mat boot kit. I agree with you that its not very apparent of the noise reduction.  However the sound from the speaker has improved.

I'm going to get an alignment done to see if that makes a difference, if not then I may revert on getting 17" rims.
