Plasma TV buzzing, Comet won't exchange

Featured Replies

I had an awful experience with Comet over a faulty LCD TV (dead and partially failed pixels) about three years ago, i've never been back since. They don't like knowledgable punters whatsoever.

I have a Panasonic TH46-PZ81 and I can hear a very feint buzz when it is muted and there is a very bright screen on the go. I accept that some sort of noise production may be inherent to the way a plasma TV operates but I wouldn't be impressed if it was loud enough to 'bug' me.

Amazon, Apple and John Lewis are my preferred choice for online shopping

aaaarrrrrrggghghghghghg

My head hurts.

I don't know what to do now.

I have already listened to the same model as mine in store and it buzzes. like mine. I guess it could be a bad batch but i am not sure if i can be bothered to take that chance as i don't have the time to be messing around swapping yet again.

I am thinking of this maybe:-

My link

But i doubt it will be as good a picture quality as the Panaasonic.

Still considering some type of acoustic material for the wall behind this one.

My brother bought that TV initially but took it back and swapped it for the Panasonic 42GT20B. Picture quality wasn’t up to much, very grainy and lots of motion blur IMO. Also the speakers were awful!! The Panasonic is Worlds apart, so much better.

Thanks for the heads up.

The Samsung 40" LED one that i now have is really good. And it doesn't buzz. lol

I think the thing with Plasma's and the buzzing is that it's something some people notice more than others. It's a little like the issue of the green ghosting that some people notice more than others and has been discussed for years over on AVForums.com.... I notice you're a member on AVForums Roblatus... Try going into the plasma TV section and searching that one forum for the word "buzzing" you'll get 20 pages and 499 threads returned!!! :o

Personally i'm lucky on both the buzzing and ghosting issues. We have the PZ80 and it's coming up to three years old and we can only hear it buzzing if you have the sound off and you stand right next to it etc....

Cheers

Dave.

Having a buzzing plama is a great excuse to buy a big and hence loud, home cinema system (thats what I did emoticon-0140-rofl.gif )

Good to hear you got something sorted, Does your head in when you go back and they don't seem to car unless you have parted with £300 for their warranty cover. I had a nightmare with them when our cooker broke and even though I took out the extended cover they couldnt repair due to lack of parts so was holding out for 6 weeks before replacing it just 3 days before xmas day 2 years back.

Then they thought we were upto something as it broke just 12 days before the extended cover was about to run out :o haven't gone back since, I wouldn't mind but it was only a main element for £24 that was at fault.

Still if you keep at them they will do something but you really do have to go some to get them to agree to do something.

Just need the right words.

"It's not fit for my purpose" are the ones in this case. When said only a couple of days after purchase, retailer has no choice but to refund or exchange. Trading Standards would tear them a new orifice if they refused.

Noooooo my beloved Kuro locked out on me tonight when I switched it on!! Unplugged it from the mains for 10 mins and it seems to have recovered. I only hope it isn't thinking about going to the big screen in the sky :( They don't make them any more :(emoticon-0106-crying.gif
