Adding a sub and amp to Skoda Fabia Vrs 2010

Featured Replies

Hi all, I am looking to put an amplifier and sub in my new skoda fabia Vrs (2010) and was just wondering if there was RCA and a remote connection in the back of the standard stereo as i want to keep the standard stereo and MDI connection?

Thanks

I think you're going to be out of luck with an RCA I'm afraid. You will have to use line level outputs unless I am severely behind the times and they're fitted to OEM head units now.

didn't think it would somehow just wanted tto find out from someone who knew rather then removing the stereo to find out......wont bother for a few years then :/ :L

Thanks tho :)

it's possible to fit an amp and sub to any hu even if it hasn't got any pre outs.

I'm using the oem hu with a line out converter.

basically, you connect the left and right speaker into this things (line out converter) and speaker wires comes out of this, which has pre outs. thats one way.

will have a look at that then...could be a possible route. I know it sounds stupid but it wont affect the sound quality at all will it? and where abouts will the remote wire for the amp connect to? Thanks alot for the help guys :)

The way i was looking at doin it was get a stereo fascia, iso adaptor and aerial adaptor and just put my sony HU in, but the only problem i have then is whether the existing aux input, MDI and steering wheel volume controls will work which to be honest i dont think will. :/

I used to use a line out convertor in an install a long time ago and it sounded fine. The only problem is that you lose the use of the speakers that you use for the convertor (in my case I lost the rear speakers). As for a remote wire I just ran a cable from the battery to a switch I mounted close to the drivers seat (under dash) and then to the amp in the back.

Line convertors go from basic cheapo jobbies with cheapo sound quality up to fully-fledged output processors like the JL Audio CleanSweep or Alpine H650..

Read up about them, but basically you get what you pay for, and your sound system will only sound as good as the weakest link..
