Hi.

Tried to 'fix' my broken load signal wire yesterday since my traction control was turning off after 10 minutes.

I simply got some wire, and then attached the two back together...

However, today at college everything turned off and PAS stopped working. I tried turning car off and on but it didnt start or tick over.

Had the mother  bring the jump leads and it started fine...

What have i fudged up?

I scanned with vagcom which resulted in a fair few things:

Any help?

Edited by Craig Lovelock

They all look to be related to low voltage from the battery to me.

Do any come back when cleared?

Not sure i didnt clear them just incase.

Problem is, car wont start once turned off...

so im guessing its not charging the battery at all!

Might have to get the voltmetre out actually.

Thanks for the reply!

So it all seems it to do with that 1 wire (2 wires..) going to the alternator.

Have i done something wrong when connecting?

Anything else to check? Bit stumped!

Double check your wiring & charge the battery, Clear the codes first, Re-scan after first start after the battery goes back onemoticon-0148-yes.gif

Two wires that need to be sorted in the same plug, did you match the wire colours up?

Does the battery light come on with the ignition?

Ive got rid of the plug basicly.

Cut it the other side of the plug and then joined them.

I swear there on the right colours haha. Will double check in a bit later.

Just went to check, the wires are the right way round.

Does the wire used have to be specific?

Also, there is no battery light when turning the key for ignition...?

This is a rough rough idea of what i done.

Cut the other side of the plug and then attached them that way.

Is there some sort of sensor or resistor in the plug that is needed?

Sorry about the bump.

But i need this sorted :'( Cant drive without it!

If there is no battery light you either haven't connected that wire correctly or you have an alternator or ECU fault. Needs the wire checking from the ECU to the alternator for open/short circuit.

I'm going to re wire it and see. Can I attach thewire straight to the plug on the alternator? Is so much easier

  • 2 years later...

Sorry to drag up an old thread but did you ever get this sorted.
