6 speed? If not, you have my sympathy!

I'm not sure it is, but when all the knackered corsa's and saxo's that are around at the mo give up the ghost, it might be.

Glad I've just got rid of mine then! B)

I got Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo close to buying a metallic grey Lupo GTi (but it was an accident repair on the front and back, being sold by the owner of a body shop, for his son,.. who said it hadn't been crashed.. hmmmmmmmm).

Anyways... I was under the impression that the blue & grey ones were by far the rarest.. Gotta say.. they are awesome lil motors, but the low rent interior made me decided to get my vRS (was replacing an Elegance).

anyways, back on topic...

In Rachdale there's a Fabia salon on spinners and a bucket load of stick on chrome! Nice!

I'll enjoy it more when ive bolted an eaton charger on it :)

Tbh i love it nothing much to go wrong cheap parts, its just a funny we car, its called the bug

Its not too slow either quicker than a standard vrs and about the same as a mapped one, fuel economy is about 40mpg too

Plus the girlfriend can drive it - you could park it on a postage stamp

Anthracite was the rarest colour (and the best in my opinion) but if you split the blues down, then Laser Blue was rarest (out the factory) - only a couple of 2005 cars I think.

Was gonna ask how it compared to the Fabia (purely as it's much the same as my Polo ;)) handles better too I'd guess?

There's a couple of threads on ClubLupo about super charging them - someone got up to about 250bhp with one :o then it blew the blower up IIRC.

For the older fabia owners this has been asked before about 2-3 years ago. I still do not think its at chav level just yet. I dont think its cool enough for the little spotty oiks.....................to which I'm rather happy.

I have to say if it does become a chav mobile I still will not get shot of it, its part of the family now and hopefully unless anything happens will be for many many years to come.

well i think its on trash ebay coilovers so im going to have to address that...

the fabia i had was on kw coilies and i loved the handling, it wasn't too bad for a donkey diesel

I've had a Lupo GTi and a vRS - I'd be surprised if the Lupo is quicker in the 30-70 range than a standard vRS - a mapped vRS would definitely be noticeably quicker than a Lupo.

i think its just the turbo that would give you the quicker feeling...

there was a chump in a standard pd130 ibiza last night who got Lupo'd well and truely

if you look at the stats 0-60 = 7.8s and tops out at 127bhp almost identical to a mapped fabia i would say.... thats taking away all the mapped fabia's that can do 0.60mph in 5.5 seconds LOLZ however

don't get me wrong either way its SLOOOW i miss my hybrid fabia

I ran out of steam in my Lupo against a Focus TDCI (one of the older ones into the bargain - it might have been mapped but even then...). Couldn't get past a 140PS Caddy (which weighs almost double a Lupo GTi) either - that was in a straight line so not just down to me being a carp driver :giggle: - Lupo was edging it but ran out of road.

Like you say, neither are fast (or handle well). The only 30-70 times I can find (Autocar) show the Lupo to be almost a second slower.

Even when/if it is I will probably still proudly motor on in my completely standard looking vRS. Aside from the insurance which is still high (I'm 21) I can't think of a car that will be cheaper to run and as easy to like.

were they in gear times though?

wonder what the lupo does with an eaton charger B)

my friend has also went the lupo route but he's plonking an APY s3 engine in it

Sorry, the Lupo figures were actually for a site called performancetorque so not sure if a like-for-like basis. Autocar 30-70 figure for the vRS was 7.6s.

Was looking for this earlier (when I was in work) but found it now I'm home (courtesy Club Lupo): -

In the real world std v std in a straight line (once rolling - the Lupo is obviously much snappier off the line) I think there would be little in it (however, torque is what causes acceleration, so I still think 30-70 in a vRS would be slightly quicker - a vRS has more than double the torque of a Lupo GTi).

Autocar remapped an '04 vRS to 170bhp and found in-gear acceleration on a par with a MKV Golf GTi - in a straight line a remapped vRS would leave a Lupo GTi for dead.

tbh i don't think it would....

i totally mullered that pd130 ibiza all over the rev range...

i've owned 2 fabia vrs's and i know there quite frugal when mapped, mine ran 173bhp and i had a hybrid at circa 220bhp

we shall just have to agree to disagree :D

i am getting a 421 manifold decat and bastuck very shortly and might get it mapped at awesome for 140-150bhp B)

I'll take you word for it ;) - it's almost two years since I had my GTi so you're in a better place to make a comparison (plus you know a helluva lot more about motors than I do!).

Found someone quoting What Car 30-70 7.8s for the Lupo - figures are all over the place.

aye figures are all over the place, figures are pants anyways... the only real true way of finding how quick a car is, is by the terminal time at a quarter mile as starts have nothing to do with that, it just shows true outright speed

and most times are in a certain gear i.e 3rd where most cars don't compare anyways especially diesels vs. petrols

:)

like this for example taken from wikipedia about a fabia vrs

The in gear acceleration times are 50-70 mph in 5.6 seconds, quicker than BMW's 330i which takes 6.0 seconds

20-40 mph in 2.4 seconds is as quick as the Lotus Elise 111R

what a load of pants... and what happens the rest of the time :giggle:
