I'm beginning to notice VRS's with LED's popping out everywhere, cr*ppy body kits, naff bling wheels and booming stereos. I hate to say it but is the VRS becoming a chav car????

Well they are getting older (cheaper) and Skoda has all but lost its crappy image, so its a possibility

Unsure to be honest...

Most of the VRS's i have seen have all looked stock and are nice and clean.

I probably look like a chav driving one. Nike jogging pants, bench jacket and a beanie hat

Oh and i forgot the hip hop and drum and bass!

I think any warm/hot hatch goes through a period where they're perceived as a bit of a chav mobile..

Like already said, it's as the cost comes down... If ya think about it though.... most golfs have been seen as chavy at some point.. But theres always really nice ones as well... Just make sure you've got a nice one

Umm I've got an aftermarket exhaust, badges with my initials instead of skoda, lowered, alpine double din unit, custom sprayed alloys, front splitter, chav I'm not, the car I would describe as personalised!! I tend to agree with you that it's not a set car is chavy, but the driver/what they've done to it. Also hugely disagree with your statement about all Saxos. . .Scooby drivers being chavs. Some are yes, but by no means all. I know about 5 Corsa drivers - only 1 is moddified (painted wheels and an exhaust that was on it when she was given it).

But as others have said, as a car starts getting cheaper, us yofs like me will be able to afford them and it's to be expected of some young people to badly modify them, but wheather or not I'd say the majourity are owned by chavs. . . I'd be inclined to say no.

Exactly. Look at XR3i`s and RS turbos now, they are "classics" and fetch decent money. However, that wasnt always the case, and the same goes for any reasonably sporty car. Providing you look after them, and do the right things to them, it`ll never be chavvy, even if they have that rep at the time. Plus, i still get told by 14 year old chavs its **** cos its a skoda

I said to a mate when I bought my vRS that in years to come it will become the chavs replacement for the 306 DTurbo. I wouldn't be surprised that the person I sell mine to when the time comes will be some chav who will run it on red for the rest of it's life.

I loved all 3 of my RS Turbo's and my 2 3i's! they were all nicely done without kits or spoilers.....

You can drive any car and look like a chav if you cover it in stickers and spoilers!

I saw a lime green Audi TT the other day that looked like it crashed into ripspeed and all the **** bits stuck to it!

I've noticed a change too but i'd say that the owners are just becoming younger rather than more chavvy.

I think it's finally been realised that even though it wears a Skoda badge it's actually a bloody good car.

It offers a fair chunk of performance, backed up by VAG reliability and made for financially viable by low running costs and (relatively) cheap insurance - while looking at insurance for a potential second run about/track toy it was cheaper for me to insure my modified Fabia than it was to insure a standrd Saxo VTR.

With vehicle age anything up to 7 years now, many mileages north of 100k, and the release of the MK2 prices have come down to a level that the yoof of today are able to afford.

Obviously what they then decide to do with them - be it cover them in awful lights/body kits/stickers and hang around in retail park car parks - is out of our control

I've yet to see a chavved up vRS.

It's certainly never going to top Rovers, MGs, Saxos, Corsas, Fiesta Zetec S / ST etc. as a chav chariot.

As has been said before, a diesel Skoda isn't going to appeal to the chav community (although a few will fall into the 'wrong' hands).

Im 21 and all my friends joke about it being a old mans car. And as long as kids in 1.0 saxo's say 'its a skoda ill beat that' its not a chav car.

I HAVE THE DEFINATIVE ANSWER.....a few words can be said to make up your mind. Fabia, just think about that for a few seconds. Ok, now think about this....Saxo, Corsa, Clio. End of discussion imo.

I'm 36, I give a lad from work a lift home now and then, he's 19. If I happen to mention the "Skoda forum" he just laughs, he finds the whole idea very funny. The Fabia will never be a chav car.

Anyway, it's not the car that's chav, it's the driver
