ROOMSTERS EVERYWHERE

Featured Replies

When I bought my Roomster Scout 4 months ago, my wife asked me how she would locate it in the supermarket car park? I assured her Roomsters were very exclusive due to their weird styling.

I said we were unlikely to see any on the roads or in car parks .

Our car I assured would be the only one in the car park?

But what’s happening there popping up everywhere , and its not uncommon to see at least one when we go out on our travels, and sometimes even 3 in one day.

I cant understand it the two dealerships were I live they never have one in the show room . And if you enquire about one , they look at there watches and say the showroom will be closing soon.

And surely Top Gears Clarkson did enough by saying the one he drove was well put together , but underpowered and thirsty.

The only saving grace is mines a scout and there’s still not many of them about!

If you ever come to Guernsey you will see dozens, but we are a discerning lot over here. But out of all of them I've only seen one Scout and that one's a taxi.

Try counting Ford Focuses and see what number you get to!

If a car's too rare, there'll be problems with spares in the future too, so I'd welcome a few more Roomies on the roads !

went to tescos today and guess how many roomsters i counted in the car park ( 3 ) and i noticed that a roomster has found a new home in our avenue , they are becoming quite common in s/yorks , forgot to say i have a roomster 1.2 SE tsi ( 105 BHP ) 7 weeks old

but aren't the roomster and fabia the same car from the b pillar front-wards

No problems with spare parts, roomsters have a lot in common with fabia, octavia and other cars of the VAG group. You would be surprised by knowing how many parts of your car can be sourced indifferently from Audi, VW or Seat stock.

Secondly, 2010 FL models have been thoroughly updated and certainly more than you can spot at first sight. As an example, the front end's crash test results have considerably improved - see EuroNCAP and ADAC sites -

At the time, Topgear tested the car with old engines, now we have TSI and TDI CR engines, which are neither underpowered nor thirsty.

I think sensible buyers are beginning to realize it. As to me, the availability of the TSI engine has played a major role when deciding to buy a roomster instead of, e.g., a New Meriva (fitted with powerful but thirsty 1.4 turbo engines).

Strangely here in Guernsey we have a lot of pre-facelift Roomsters on the road yet I have only seen one of the newer models so far but very many facelifted Fabias.

Judging by the number of Yetties around I think that buyers who might have chosen Roomies in the past May be buying those now.

I have seen many more too. Just back from skiing in Austria and there are loads out there.

The arrival of the new Roomster has also caused a flurry of activity at Skoda retailers across the UK. The innovative MPV has made an outstanding start and despite being on sale for just a matter of weeks, already accounts for 4.1% of Skoda's October sales.

2010 figures

So it looks like the secret is out and people are realising just how good they are, Shhhhhh don't tell anyone else :x

To help find mine in supermarket carparks I've wrapped the antenna with bright yellow insulating tape.

It's not the number of Roomsters that's the problem, it's the number of grey/silver cars when you look over the top of them. (And my short term memory)

What was I saying? :hi:

But at least you can see a Roomster over the top of most of the others. :hi:

It must be the season for Roomster mania , I have had mine 4 aprox 7 weeks ( 1.2 Tsi 105bhp SE ) with a few goodies , dare i say it !! my brother-in -law was so impressed with mine he has only placed an order for a Roomster ( 1.2 Tsi 105bhp SE+ )

The thing is the cars don't arrive at dealers 1 at a time but by the boat load. So a whole month (or 2 months) of orders will arrive in a single batch and be on the road within a week.

Hi Fellow Roomsters,

Here in West Cornwall Roomsters are popular, can see 3 or 4 Roomsters each time we are out and about. Can't say that about Ford C Max or other MPV's.

Helping to find your car in the supermarket carpark reminds of when my nearest and dearest visited the local Lidl's supermarket about 12 months ago. I got a mobile call from her saying the remote would not open the car, which really puzzled me as it was fine when she left home, even had a chat with the supermarket manager who confirmed that the car would not open. Left them to try and sort the situation before departing to the supermarket, but about 5 mins later received another call from the manager who said that all was sorted and that my wife would explain when she gets home. Apparently there was an identical Roomster (Ocean Blue Metallic) about 5 cars away from our Roomster, which only became apparent when the actual owner arrived at their Roomster and opened it. Wifey notices colours but not numberplates.

Safe driving everyone, Eddie
