27,432 miles

Featured Replies

This is when my service sppanner decided to finally show up for my 20K service, was getting a bit worried but then most miles i do are motorway, not sure if this has something to do with it, service on monday... yey! :D £230 bargain, not...

Also, water in pump for windscreen washer froze, at about minus 25 when i was in Austrai a couple of weeks ago, blew fuse, dealer charged me 70 squid to fix it, surely a fuse shoudlnt blow if this happens?

P.S: taking your car on two joined astro turf football pitches covered in snow was great fun, large doughnuts, etc... :D:D:D Great on the Autobarns, bout 138 on the clock, going to fast to change sat nav reading so couldt check real speed, thats not remapped or any mods at all! NICE

How do you do doughnuts in the Furby? Or did you mean doughnuts of the sweet variety?

Not really circular come to think about it, just slid all over the place whilst trying to keep a bit of power to keep moving forwards and sideways etc... :D its harder than i thought wheel spin so easily with all that torque, gently does it...

Pumps don't like frozen water or running dry.

If the fuse doesn't blow the pump almost certainly will.

I'm confused. Why didn't you get the 20,000 miles service done when you reached that mileage rather than wait until 27,432 miles? And what other servicing have you had done so far?

According to profile you drive a Fabia vRS ?

If so it should be serviced every 10K, the "spanner" is irrelevant to fixed servicing.

Unless i'm having a bad day, you're 7000+ miles overdue...

No I think your right, cant believe anyone would cross another 10k miles without consulting your dealer whether it should be serviced soon.

As with all front wheel drive cars, you do them in reverse!

Can someone please enlighten me about this supposed spanner" light. As far I I'm aware (pre facelift anyway)

Fabias don't have any "spanner" symbols on the instrument pod (none shown in the manual either).

I was told by Skoda UK that no fabias support variable servicing - AFAIK none have ever been fitted with the extra sensors required.

They dont support variable.

But all have some sort of service warning. Depending on age you should with get a spanner light come up next to the mileage or it will read 'OIL' or 'INSP' instead of the trip.

Yeah my one (2001 car) doesn't have a spanner, but flashes up OIL or INSP 1000 miles before the car is due a service. This is purely done on mileage....

Chris

"alexst" - since you obviously erroneously think your Fabia vRS is on variable servicing, I conclude that you've not only missed the 20,000 mile service but also missed the 10,000 service!!! Am I right? Have you had ANY previous services?

I called the garage at 10k and they booked me in and had the car serviced... job done  , the mechanic at skoda said that the car was on variable servicing (04 plate)... but set to KM's thats why it hadn't come on yet, so he set it to miles, and that the light would not come on until about 22-23K and that i should bring it back in then for the next service.

I specifically asked them the question whether it was on variable servicing or if i gad to bring it in at 20K. He said yes it is dont bring it back till the spanner comes up in the display and it reads oil! :)

So i didnt, its booked in for next monday and i explained the situation again with my new local dealer, and they said that this was correct. :)

Go figure, i only know what i've been told, who am i to argue with two different dealers! :D

alexst, I had this same type of thread at the start of the year, went to my dealer, and he serviced it, then told me he had restet the dash where the spanner came on and told me to come back when the spanner came back on, not before. Who am i to argue.

Oh by the way mine had 14000 miles on wheni went for the 10k so i am expecting about 24000 for the 20k.

Maybe Ross can clarify but my dealer says the Fabia does not have the correct monitoring to go on variable servicing.

Cheers

Lee

Ross confirmed recently that the Fabia vRS can NOT use variable servicing due to various missing sensors. The oil sensor and brake pad wear sensors are 2 that spring to mind.

Also' date=' Skoda themselves say that it is not possible. This is detailed here...

So why is the service manager at my dealer telling me to do this then? surely they should all follow the same guidlines?

So why is the service manager at my dealer telling me to do this then? surely they should all follow the same guidlines?

Possibly because he's assuming that the PD130 in the Fabia is the same as the PD130 in the Octavia & Superb.

Clearly, it is not the same.

So who is at fault here? me for pleading ignorance or him for misinforming me?

He is. Variable servicing and which oil to use still seems to confuse some dealers.

Would a Fabia vRS owner care to dig out their handbook and tell us what it says (if anything) about service intervals ?

Do you ever post anything, constructive/positive?

Excuse me?

I asked a reasonable question about the Fabia manual. If you bother to read the thread you'll see i've posted links to information to try and explain why the Fabia is not suitable for variable.

Got a problem with that? If so, tough luck. :finger:
