All i have had with my dealer is crap.especially when it comes to money

p/x my car and they owed me £6,000 as my car wasnt ready for 4 to 6 months....never got my moneyemoticon-0173-middlefinger.gif

now they still owe £1200 and its been 4 weeks so they will not be servicing it and carnt wait till thet phone me up and i can tell them where to shove it.

just waiting until postman as been then think i will go through and have a rant and go at the manageremoticon-0172-mooning.gif

I have had several new cars but this just takes the biscuit

I suggest you take your 'little' dog with you... :p :giggle:

why not tell everyone who the dealer is.

as you are in west yorkshire i can guess.

but we all need to know the good and the bad about dealers.

its true of all things though isn't it with good and bad dealers, i'd suggest if you're very unhappy about the service you've had you take the matter up in writing with Skoda UK as they don't want their customers being treated badly by dealers and have the ability to lean on dealers a great deal if things are going wrong.

I see you are pretty upset about something but I can't make head nor tail of most of your rant

So if I understand correctly:

"They owed you car tax from another car and took 6 weeks to send it" - Was it from your px? When I p/x'ed my car in October I took the tax disc out when I handed the car over as previously agreed with them. I then redeemed the outstanding tax with DVLA and it took 5-6 weeks to get the refund. So not the dealer's fault.

How do they owe you 6 grand from a p/x because your car was late? You say you never got this money but on the next line you reckon they only owe you £1,200. What happened to the 6 grand and where does the £1,200 come from?

You've lost me! Calm down a bit and try to be more clear - maybe we can suggest some way to help tackle your problem.

If you are talking about the West Yorkshire dealer with branches in Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Huddersfield and York (ie DM Kieth) then my experience is as far removed from yours as it is possible to get. I have bought 2 cars from the Bradford branch and they get all my servicing, my 2 brothers-in-law between 'em have bought 4 Octavias from them and have nothing but praise.

Isn't it best to put comments on dealers in the dealers reviews sections.....and for goodness sake name names?.

you've lost me there!

Im with Eccleshill, Calm down and carry on!

I am guessing you gave them your px at the time of ordering in order to maximise its value (6k) and then your new car was delayed so they effectively had your £6k for a few extra months, but you still got your £6k when the new one arrived, not sure how they would owe you £1200 though, unless your car was subsequently delivered without options you had paid for already, or the price had dropped due to VAT free or similar being introduced?

If the former is true then to a certain extent you paid your money upfront to get a good deal and took a chance, if the latter I wouldn't have left the dealership without a cheque.

Respect your decision not to name the dealer but given there is a complete monopoly in WY  but given that scenario they are bound to have good and bad reputation.

West Yorkshire Hmm that's one dealer then who have all 4 sites

Their MD can be emailed on [email protected]

Just to put a few things straight...............

1.When I p/x my car in August for my vrs they could not give a price on mine so I did it in August but the dealer they where selling it to wanted

the car tax so I said yes,but you can pay for it.So they agreed to send me a cheque for £250 straight away........this took several phone calls about 3

e-mails and took 6 weeks to comeemoticon-0173-middlefinger.gif

2.I had a small amount of finance to pay but they owed me about £6000 which I never saw at all,it should have been in my bank not theres

for 4 month......

3.when I ordered car I had to pay for extras up front which come to £1200 but because I weas paying for car once it arrived I was promised a cheque

for £1200 as soon as i sighned for it.......and guess what 4 weeks and counting and it still not hereemoticon-0183-swear.gif

4.So they will not be servicing it,and any good dealers for servicing out there would be much appreciated...

5.hope this explains why i have beeb pi***ed of , I have just sent a letter out to skoda uk about the crap service

Nope sorry i still can't make sense of it? Why do they owe you £6k and why do they owe you £1200? If you paid for the extras as the deposit then when you pick up the car they take that off the invoice?

So if i am right it what i think you are saying and they owe you £7.2k then i think i would be straight on the phone to the police.

Can't really see how they do though when you have traded in an Elegance for a brand new VRS.

I didnt trade in my elegance i had another car

and as to the deposit you tell me i have never heard anything like it

so the above figure of £7.2 is right

You have totally lost me.....

When you order a car you pay a deposit - this is normal to secure the order - the deposit normall consists of the cost of the options.

so if you bought the car for £20k and had £1200 of options you would pay a £1200 deposit. This would leave you with a balance of £18800 left to pay. If you traded in a car for say £5k you would then have a balance to pay in cash or finance of £13800.

What i am saying is i can't see how they owe you money....

Sorry, still strugling with this.

You order new car but say they can't give you PX price in August yet you still PX IN August? So how much did they give you for your PX.?

You left the tax on for the dealer who they sold your PX to, which I can see if they give you the cash equivalent. They then hold onto what they got from ther PX against your new VRS. Is that what you are P***** at?

You wanted the PX cash in your account not theirs

They don't owe you £6000 because it is a px - the value of your old car goes towards the price of the new car. You shouldn't expect to see the £6k, even if the new car is delayed.

What you want is not a px. You want a straight sale to the dealer and take the money at the point of sale. That means 2 separate transactions.

Just a guess, again,

The guy had a px when he ordered his car, it was not a skoda. The dealer refused to give him a price on this px especially as they knew delivery of a new car would be 6 months. In order not to lose the deal the dealer rang round and got a value for his px from a dealer of that marque. Aforementioned dealer would not wait 6 months and wanted his car immediately if they where to honour value.

Great Dane agreed to 'sell' his car to this dealer via the Skoda dealer straight away but said he wanted the proceeds of the sale after the finance was settled, he also wanted the value of the remaining VED on his px straight away.

GreatDane agreed to leave a deposit of £1200 with the dealer on the understanding that this 'deposit' would be returned to him on completion of the sale, when he would pay for the car in full.

Simples, the guessing comes into the whys and wherefores would you want the £1200 back or indeed the £6k with interest rates so low, I am guessing either the plan was to pay for the entire car on a loan of some type, or the car is a company vehicle of some such.

must admit this isnt very clear but intruguing all the same!

You agreed a price for the VRS in August, you paid them £1200 deposit at the time?

Some time shortly after, in august you gave them your PX in theory to get a higher resale. At this point they have your car worth £6K plus road tax £250 and £1200 cash you paid at the time of the deal.

They give you a cheque for £250 only, thereby keeping £7200.

The car arrives in december and somehow you are still owed money, I'm guessing you wanted your old car as the deposit only, so you want the original £1200 cash deposit back, why the hell didnt you insist on a cheque for £1200 when you took delivery, especially given the px mis understandings.

He's already stated it wasn't his Octavia Elegance that was used for the P/X...

£6,000? I'd be keen to see my money sooner rather than later on this P/X too! :giggle:

just think if vw had bought them out instead, we could all be driving them!

:giggle:

Forgive me if I'm being stupid but if they owed you all this money why didn't you deduct it from the balance you owed when you collected the car?
