Get Down to John Lewis or Waitrose

Featured Replies

I found the below information, although I haven't seen the article.

Hot on the heels of a rave review from popular motoring show Top Gear, the John Lewis magazine joins the fan club of the new Skoda Yeti. The latest edition of the John Lewis magazine, read by around one million customers, features another shining review of the new Skoda Yeti, this time from a woman’s perspective.

John Lewis Edition Columnist, Miranda Sawyer, was bowled over by the compact 4x4 despite not actually being able to drive it following a recent caesarean section. With family matters clearly a priority, Sawyer reviewed the new Skoda Yeti from a mother’s point of view and claims that this new Skoda is particularly good for those with children.

“Boot space in the Skoda Yeti is excellent, comparing favourably with last issue’s Land Rover Discovery…our ridiculous enormobuggy is swallowed with ease,” she said. One million customers read the John Lewis magazine which is free to all John Lewis and Waitrose customers.

This is just the latest of a number of positive reviews for the new Skoda Yeti which has also won awards such as Car of the Year at the Auto Trader New Car Awards in 2010. These recent reviews of the Yeti have seen increased demand at Skoda dealers across the UK, including Birchwood Skoda in Sussex where staff are reporting yet another surge in popularity for the award-winning compact 4x4.

This I posted on the TopGear thread.

Skoda Yeti Harnesses the power of Top Gear

Submitted by Adam Snape on 26th Jan 2011 17:16:07

The popular BBC motoring show, Top Gear, reviewed the latest addition to the new Skoda range on Sunday 23rd January creating a flurry of interest from the public and further strengthening the new Skoda brand image. The Skoda website was flooded with enquiries from interested members of the public after the review of the new Skoda Yeti 4x4 crossover.

Helen Bainbridge, Digital Marketing Manager at Škoda UK said: "The response on Sunday night was amazing. The fantastic review has clearly impressed a lot of people who are interested in buying a compact 4x4.”

Immediately after the show, the Yeti section of our website received as many hits in two hours as it does in a typical week. Around 700 Skoda Yeti brochures were downloaded and some customers even booked test drives straight away.

The power of Top Gear has been felt by car dealers across the country as well with many reporting heightened interest in the new Skoda Yeti 4x4 crossover. Birchwood Skoda in Sussex have noticed a surge in demand for the award winning compact 4x4 with many customers booking their test drive online straight after the show on Sunday evening.

Let's hope we don't see a surge in thefts or carjacking.

Woe betide anyone who carjacks me..................I'll have a little surprise for them, but they won't be able to smile for a few months emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

I can't quite believe that the Yeti boot compares favourably with a Disco's, unless she's using a measure other than volume!

Neither have a boot that's >1m front-to-back, so an "enormobuggy" will only fit widthways or upright across the back or to one side. So it either needs strapping in, falls over, or you need to put your shopping on top of it. Nothing there to convince me that our next 'family' car shouldn't be a C-segment estate... :wonder:

With all due respect, how can she possibly review a car favourably or otherwise in her present condition. I thought that John Lewis were pretty good at managing the welfare of their 'partners' and therefore should be ashamed of themselves for allowing her to work when she should be on maternity leave!

Never under estimate a woman :D

Having checked the LR website, she's right when the Disco is in seven seat mode (only 280 litres) but when it's in 5 seat mode there's 1192 litres compared to the Yeti's 416 (or 322 with spare wheel). In 5 seat mode the Disco has a load space of 1.12m's behind the rear seats, which is certainly bigger than the Yeti's.
