I noticed that most places sell V rated Rainsport 2s. However Tyreman (from Tyresearcher results), sells both V and W rated.

According to Uniroyal's website this is right. you can get them in both speed ratings. 205/45 R16 83V and 205/45 ZR16 83W. http://www.uniroyal-tyres.co.uk/generator/www/uk/en/uniroyal/automobile/themes/02_products/01_rainsport2/rainsport2_en.html

Would it matter if you did fit V rated tyres as opposed to W rated? Both are higher than the vRS's top speed anyway (V=149 mph, W=168mph).

is it not something to do with insurance, that the tyres as standard fit from skoda are a "w". And if you went to a lower tyre, and god forbid you had a accident. I can only imagine that the insurance would try to get out of paying out.

Doesn't mention anywhere W rated tyres for the Fabia (6Y) vRS and only H rated for winters.
