Roomster radio change

Featured Replies

Hi there, first post having become the proud owner of a 2010 Roomster 1.9 Diesel SE just a week ago. The car is fitted with what I assume is the standard "Dance" radio CD unit. I would like to change this for the Bolero unit which is standard in the Yeti and some Octavias. Can anyone tell me if it's likely to be a straight swap or might I face problems?

Really? Well my standard edition (Style called in Greece) is fitted with the Blues A05 radio - cd - mp3 unit. The following link leads you to the unit(s) manufacturer. Enjoy.

A unit code activation may be needed, and I'm not sure if any plastic frame is needed.

What do you find is wrong with the Dance radio? I think mine is the best car radio I've ever had.

I don't find anything wrong with it - but the Bolero appears to have far more features, colour touch screen, SD card slot, 6 CD changer built in etc., etc.

Stratosg - fancy buying a dance HU to replace your clearly obsolete "blues" unit? :giggle: i have one for sale B)

Thanks for the offer, but i'm fan of the theory... Don't fix it if it works, further more i live in Greece, so... you may find a buyer closer to you. :D

If you have a pre-facelift Roomster changing the radio isn't as simple as you think.

The Roomster uses CAN 1.6 signals. The bolero works with 2.0. If you only change the dance aganist the bolero that will cause problems. The solution would be a CAN-coverter. this costs about 90€ in germany (original skoda part). Without that CAN-interface the bolero won't concern with the ignition and also won't go out with the ignition. Also the steering wheel remote control would not work.

so if you want to integrate a current bolero you will need this CAN-interface..
