THE TOP GEAR MAG VRS REVIEW

Featured Replies

Thanks for the above very interesting.

Had a drive in the VRS on Friday. I was most impressed with it. The acceleration is epic and seemingly never ending up to :cough: 100mph on the run i did. That engine with that gearbox is a match made in heaven! I thought my 6spd DSG was quick but this seems even quicker and even more seemless. I was slightly disappointed with the quality of the interior but overall it is an impressive car....especially for £13k and compared to what else is out there (next cheapest is a Clio which is nearly £3k more).

I want to drive the Monte Carlo in 1.6TDI guise when that comes out as SWMBO is looking for a 'sporty' diesel supermini to replace the Bora (she does 20k a year). I also think that the Monte Carlo looks more like the VRS should!

how would you compare the performance with your octavia?

I went from a stage 3 Octy TFSI vRS, then stripped down to stage 1 and only onto standard the day i sold it. So its been a long time since i drove a std 200ps car. So when i drove the fabia i found it a little underwhelming in all honesty.

It felt quicker but then again i have the Diesel. I don't actually think it was that much quicker to be honest. The fact its a petrol and a hell of a lot smaller makes it feel a lot quicker! I did find it underwhelming also but more so for the interior, its a bit dull to be honest. The acceleration with that DSG is amazing though. I would be happy to have one!

Always interesting, for me at least, to go back and read old Threads.

(thanks OzFabia for bringing this one to my attention, i had missed this one back in those olden but golden times.)
