Wipers stay on!

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

My front wipers have started behaving a little randomly. Most of the time they stay on. After doing a search, I have tried disconnecting the fuse for the rear wiper, and this has worked. Have also cleaned thepins on the fuses and wiper relay 377. Unfortunately, this hasn't had any affect, so I still have to remove the rear wiper fuse. Any ideas? Do I need to replace the relay?

Also, very occasionally, the doors open light on the dash lights up for no reason, but then disappears again after a few minutes.

Any help would be much appreciated!

I think that this comes up about once a week :wonder:

Your problem is almost certainly due to screen wash leaking inside the rear wiper motor. It may also be dripping down onto the tailgate lock and boot light switch causing your other problem too.

You can clean the motor out, dry it and repack with fresh grease, but this only seems to work for a short time. So, you either need a new rear wiper motor or do as a few other have and remove the motor and fit a blanking plug instead.

Could be, but if you believe you are using too much screen wash then it sounds like you have a leak somewhere.

If your car has headlight washer fitted, then they seem to drain the washer tank for a hobby. This is more noticeable during the winter months as more time is spent with your headlights on, and washing the windscreen with headlights on causes the headlight jets to function.

Wash your screen in shorter bursts and you won't trigger the headlamp washers
