wiring in heated seats?

Featured Replies

not sure if this is in the correct place but hey, here goes....recently i fitted a full audi TT interior into my mates Lupo, now the seats are heated leather with airbags, he asked me if i knew whether it would be possible to wire the heating elements into regular swiches so he can just flip them on, on cold mornings. The seats obviously have the wires/ plugs underneath (guessing one for airbag, one for the heater) anyone know if this can be done?

It could be done but would need to be done through a relay. There should be a temp sensor wired in already in the mat itself to protect against over heating.

You come to the right place! WHOOP!

Mrs has my old lupo and has my TT leather. I have yet to put the leather in but have put the wiring in for it.

You need to get some of those rectanganel headted seat switches from a bora, passat, lupo gti or mk4 golf etc... and the wiring loom (mrs has link on her laptop so will post it up when i speak to her 2night)

Can you show pics and explain how you put seats in? Did you weld steel in and weld seats in or buy expensive custom subframes?

Cheers

It's for a mk4 golf and / or passat, depending on kit orderd..

but i suspect this could be the link that Bikerz has...

Heated seats retro-fit kit.

Bikerz, I went to wickes and bought various steel bar, and some similar sized angle for strength and made the frames up from scratch, not really a hard job! I can get u some pics next time I see my pal, however!! The rear!! Oh dear that was a comnplete pain as the tt has huge bracketry on the seat backs and none of that is any use in the lupo! So had to chop it off very carefully and re weld new custom made stuff on, looks so nice tho now! Really pleased with the result! Would just love to be able to use the heating option!

Well done Rob, yes that seems to be what I have, however I paid £64 for it. So il get link now.

Pics would be great please buddy.

hold on....188 quid for some wires and switches! is that a joke? my mates an auto electrician and he said all u really need is the standard switches to control the temp, rest can be done easily without using OEM plugs etc

so u buy that? and it plugs into what exactly?

The yellow connector on seats is airbags so ignor that. The loom connects into switchs and into seats (green) and of course you need a earth and a switched live from fuse box.
