servo problems

Featured Replies

hi im new to all this im not even sure if my car is a mk1 or mk2,anyway ive got an o2 plate tdi ambiente and it suffers from an rock hard brake pedal, now i took pipe out servo andit released the pressure and brakes were fine then it gos hard again and brakes come on.

Right is this an servo problem or something else?

Also my rear passenger door locked solid took me 3 hours to release which after i now need an lock and central locking mechanism.

1 last thing anyone know of some decent breakers?????? :p

The brake problem seams to be a master cyclinder failure, the seals have gone and the fluid is getting past the seal and hold in the brakes on , in effect

Before assuming the brake problem is the master cylinder (but it seems likely), I'd check that the vacumn pump and line are ok.

now see both answer are very different to what ive read could it be a case of master cylinder seals, have just bought servo and master cylinder see if it cures it! :S

Had a problem the other day on my 06 octavia. When going in reverse, the break pedal would go solid, but forwards it would release. Took it to my local garage and they found a small hole in the servo tubing. They replaced that and (touch wood) its been great ever since. £50 job done :)

check the joint on the servo pipe for a leak.

check the tubes first, I had the same with my polo 6N, turned out the tubes where ripped where they were heated to go over a valve

cheers
