Skuffed Alloy " D*** Pot Holes "

Featured Replies

How ironic is this bloke came into work this morning chuntering about his knackered alloy courtesy of a pot hole on his precious wok on wheels (subaru) so the banter was flying about then low and behold I get a phone call off the wife " Where is there a decent place for refurbing Alloys" , so you can imagine the colour just drained out of my face thought the worst , bent buckled DEAD Alloy ! turns out its a deep scratch rear offside , it was done dodging a pothole . :'(

Where do I stand about getting the local coucnil to cough up the repair seeing as the estate is like a minefield now since the frost and they have been reported on numerous occasions .

has anyone had any joy with this ?

Go out NOW and get a photo of the offending pothole - don't contact them before or they might rush out and fill the evidence. Once you have the photo contact them and inform them of the issue and they should help you out.

My wife did a tyre years ago on a huge hole - the council paid for a new tyre for her. The next day the hole had bee filled!

Very public spirited of you, how many other unfortunate motorists will sustain damage to their vehicles before you contact them so it can be made safe?

The council don't rush out and fill the pothole to avoid people gathering evidence, they fill it to keep the highway safe for road users.

I know, I support the public no end. As for your comment, I report stuff as soon as I see it as I always have the means to take a photo (phone, camera etc). It's advice and not to be taken literally and people can make up their own mind about notification. I also cycle and have had the misfortune of hitting potholes before and ALWAYS reported them so that my fellow cyclists didn't cause themselves injury. I'm a bit miffed that you can judge my public spirit on the back of one post in the forum! Don't be so quick to pass judgement on someone!

As for the council - try reporting a deep pothole without stating that it's caused damage or injury and see how long it takes to fill, then contact them informing them of damage or injury and it'll be filled before you put the phone down (and before you take that literally - it's a joke).

It's a Joke !!!!!!!!!!! apparently the Pot Holes are split into 4 catergorys and the one the had my alloy is only a catergory 3 from the assessor who went out to it the first time it was reported, when we had the bad frost through december , I sent the photos I have taken and low and behold it has got worse from the photos taken by the assessor , but afterall the photos dont give the correct image ??????? and they only pay out if the damage is caused by a cartergory 1 hole , well tell u wat luv I will make it a catergory 1 hole when I next go to work in the early hours then see what happens when a small child falls down it ! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Bl***Y jumped up upstart YTS :swear:

Rant Over

They are sending a claim form out so lets see what happens probably get filed in that special place .

Yeah it might not look that bad but Iv'e suffered a casualty for it !

Sorry to hear about your missfortune but over here in ireland our potholed roads can be used to breed fish they're so deep. Our councils are also broke, so once a broke alloy always a broke alloy. I'm deading my driving on our roads as i've just ordered a vrs with 18 neptunes!!

This is where the local travelling community could come down ur street and instead of buggering up ur drive, everyone chip in and ave em Tarmac the Pot Holes ! :giggle:

There is a hole in the road - and the council are looking into it - Boom Boom :giggle: .

Sorry, but I had to do that!

I claimed succesfully for pothole damage - I think it depended on being able to show that the council knew about the hole and therefore should have repaired it, if it is because a previous repair has broken up then they obviously knew about the pothole and hadn't repaired it properly, this was what happened in my case and I recovered the cost of wheel tyre and alignment check..... so yo must tell them and make a note of the conversation so that if somebody else hits same hole the council can't pretend they were unaware of it.

The roads in my area are truly awful and there seems little hope of any of them ever being repaired properly - I wonder how may accidents are going to result from drivers concentrating too hard dodging potholes !

Drive on the footpath. Simples. :)

What with looking up for the speed cameras, looking down for the potholes and looking in the mirror for police.....

I do not have time for looking out for pedestriansemoticon-0120-doh.gif
