Hi Rob, sorry got confused with the reference to Weitecs. It's just the look I wanted. Very nice indeed!

No worries.

I had the standard suspension, then changed to eibach/koni fsd's then changed to weitecs.

I'm a suspension whore.

The thing is though rob, when I look at the before an after pics of your car on the link in post #21 above its obvious that your car, in the before pics, is lower than my standard car (and a couple of people commented on that on your thread).

Your car in he after pic is noticeably lower than the before pic but a 20mm drop on the level MY car is at just now won't be enough to make mine look like your after pic.

Have a look at my recent post re the Eibach/FSD setup I have posted some before and after photo's and it looked like it was an off roader in comparison to what it is now

For day-to-day driving on the roads round here, yes I think it's ideal. But everyone has different objectives I suppose, and also drives on different surfaces :)

It's like the surface of the moon on most of my routes, and I can't see it getting better any time soon with council budgets the way they are. Which is why I'm swapping from KW V1 to Eibach/FSDs.

Having looked at earlier posts am I correct in thinking that there is no point fitting Eibachs without Koni's (or similiar)? I want the ride height lowered at best price and originally thought I could just get away with fitting Eibachs...I need to leave some in the budget for the anthracite wheels!

It's not that there isn't a point to doing Eibachs on their own. Many people do and rate the mod. It's just that the OEM dampers are then not as well matched, as you've replaced the spring with something more focused and 'sporty'. It can also mean that the OEM dampers wear out quicker as they're made to work a bit harder.

If you do replace springs and dampers at the same time, you effectively save a fitting charge as well, as the replacement time for both isn't significantly greater than the springs alone. You'll also end up with a better drive and ride quality.

Options are the revised FSD model or something from Bilstein really - their B6 or B8 model.

As ever, you pays your money and you takes your choice

Anyone got any experiences or advice on H&R springs?

Seen two different sites - one quotes a 20mm drop and the other says 35mm. Can't seem to find any other info that would settle the matter.

Blimey Oobster all this stressing over the ride height!!!! Just fit the Eibachs and 2 bags of cement in the boot, yu be slammed den homie

Does anyone know how the ride quality will be, comparing the Bilstein B6/B8 and Koni FSD?

And if fitting the Eibach springs, the B8 should be used instead of B6? Since the car is now lowered? Thanks!

Its probably the same set of springs. One measurement is against a vrs, the other is probably against a non-vrs octavia. From memory the vrs is already 15mm lower than the "cooking" models.

BTW: No offence meant to drivers of "cooking" octavias - I wonder where that expression comes from?!

Yes, my understanding is that the B8 are for lowered cars, the B6 for standard ride height. Damping is the same on both IIRC.

Regarding ride quality - check out PETELKING's comments here: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/180042-eibach-pro-kit/

"I've got a pair of bilstein B8's and the hardened rebound makes the car a little jumpy.."
