Ingenious (cheap) fully rubber lined boot protection

Featured Replies

Absolutely agree - I need to fix up something similar. I sometimes have to transort large, smelly, leaky, wet, dirty objects (no not kids, or spouse!) and this is the best solution for a Yeti I have seen yet. It is one disadvantage of exclusivity that there's not the range of stuff you can get for a Defender, for instance (mine always had deep fitted plasic trays in the boot area - I miss that). Thanks for pointing it out.

Thanks for pointing it out.

Pleasure. I knew someone would find a use.

And if you read that whole thread the Superb Combi owners have the same issue in that there aren't that many bespoke items for their car out there either. But where there's a will, there's a way.

If anyone else is interested, the thread Johann provides now includes the ebay source for the rubber used in this ingenious solution.

Or you could use Pond Liner, which is cheap and freely available?

I use a large dustbin liner. Strong, very cheap and easily replaced.

I have also lined my boot with a carpet liner from Lidl, £3 for a big roll.

The point is - Pond liner, bin bag, polythene sheet or whatever - these options cost peanuts, protect the boot perfectly and can be easily replaced.

I also use a variety of solutions, but I am looking for something more permanently in place. I have some butyl rubber pond liner and have used it - but it won't lay as flat as that shown in the link - mine is .75 mm, although you can get 1.00mm. The stuff used in the link is 1.5mm. Each to his own - we all have different needs.
