Voice control

Featured Replies

I've got a new Superb with Columbus. The manual refers to voice control but the options listed in the manual don't appear on my unit and the button doesn't do anything. Am I missing something?!

the voice control is only for the phone.you press the left hand button on the steering wheel wait for it to beep then say dial name.bill

My handbook says it can be used for the sat nav, radio, media etc and there's a button on the columbus unit for it......

I can alter non phone settings on my Columbus but I have a UK Elegance spec with the Bluetooth hands free so that might be why.

To activate it, I press and hold the left hand roller on the steering wheel.

I have the same car. Manual says hit the button on the columbus unit - neither that nor the roller wheel do anything........

You may or may not have the microphone fitted, mine came with the Bluetooth module. Probably needs some VCDS coding if you fit the mike yourself, to tell the Columbus to use it for voice control.

It does indeed allow control of all Columbus features.

My Superb Elegance Combi MY 2011 with Columbus. Unit had latest firmware and v7 maps installed.

Voice control. I can change radio stations, control media and navigation, that includes changing scale on map and entering destinations. Just single press on mic button and speak no problems.

I changed the sat nav voice from English(male) to English and the voice control option appeared in the setup menu.......now works OK.

Also accessable by briefly pressing pressing the left scroll wheel on the steering wheel. Very useful to tell the tell the computer to dial a number with your mobile connected. My 6 yr old and 4 yr old are convinced that the talking computer is a real person who watches them whilst I'm driving. Promotes good behaviour!

About this voice control... Using columbus with fw 26xx and 7.1 maps. I have a bluetooth skoda car kit installed. Phone works ok.

When i talk to the lady she does not hear me. After a while she says "pardon". VCDS coding is ok i think but i can not get her to hear me...

Is there somebody who can help or has any suggestions?

Thanks

Peter

Voice Control works like ****.

Even if i take it easy and speak to it in the purest english dialect it just displays the wrong contacts or says "Pardon".

Nice little gimmick, but thats pretty much it.

Works OK for me most of the time, it does get it wrong now and again. Perhaps its tuned to the Yorkshire accent.

If the system is not hearing you at all and the coding is right, it does suggest a hardware fault- wiring, connections or the mike itself.

Asin a previous post on this subject. Voice control works fine for me, everything that can be voice controlled works. Voice is set to English not Engish male I believe this can make a difference. As to accent I have quite a strong Cornish accent and this proves no problem. emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I know this is an old thread now, but does anyone have a list of voice commands so that I am talking the same language?
