Petrol 105 or 85?

Featured Replies

Well it looks like it going to be a Rosso according to SWIMBO,

So just about sorted what to order apart from the engine, a fairly low mileage probably 8,000 at most, with plenty of short commutes for her so petrol seems the best choice. Just need to decide on the engine, My Berlingo is similar to the 105 so I am thinking that would be the best option.

Anyone driven both? Is the much difference between the 85 or 105 in practice?

VED is the same, Fuel Consumption virtually the same (depends on the way you drive) Acceleration, Torque and Top Speed better on the 105. So it's really what you want! Mines a DSG so it's the 105 - but I drove the 85 and as long as you stirred the stick it was fine, but the 105 is lazier - so less stirring!

As a former owner of an Octavia 1.6 Petrol 102Hp and a Fabia Petrol 1.2 12v 64Hp, and current owner of an 1.2Tsi 105Hp 5-speed manual and a father of two babies, i suggest by heart 105. As Einrack wrote more torque, more acceleration, more high speed. I covered 11.350 km in seven months without any hesitation. The car is able to overtake others without the need of shifting down a gear as she can easily accelerates from 80Km/h having fifth gear.

I use my Roomster every single day to go babies to baby station and then wife to her job and then go to my job covering 5 Km and vice versa. Three of them inside town with steep uphills and the rest two outside town and almost every weekend we go for a "walk" of 500km.

My consumption is about :

6.6 to 7 l/100km at a speed of 110 to 130 km/h at highway. I prefer 120km/h

5.0 to 6.1 l/100Km at a speed of 50 to 80 km/h at country roads. I prefer 80Km/h

8.0 to 10.2 l/100Km inside town.

I try not to drive aggressively and my driving style complies to the gear shift recommendation of the car. Plus i weight 115Kg far away than 75Kg Skoda's test driver.

Combined consumption since the first day of ownership is 7.2 l/100 Km. But during summertime while car was running almost always at highways and country roads combined consumption was 6.6 lt/100 Km.

Maximum autonomy distance indicated at mfd : 1040 Km

Maximum distance driven at one fuel tank 720Km remaining autonomy indicated 260Km.

Mean autonomy since the car is running everyday inside town : About 720Km.

Oil consumption :

300gr at 6.000 Km another 300gr at 10.800 due to an oil fumes pot leak, repaired under warranty.
