wipers indicators and blowers not working

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Got a wierd one for you.

Wipers, indicators and blower have stopped working on my 2002 Octavia 1.9 TDi.

That is until I hear a quick buzzing (sounds electrical) in the dash and then all is fine until I stop the engine.

The fault can last from a few seconds to a good few minutes (dangerous in the rain and frustrating for other road users)

Im thinking a relay or short circuit somewhere. Anyone had anything similar or know of a fix?

I agree with you that a short (such as rubbed insulation) could be a cause but I would expect a fuse to blow sooner or later if this is the cause.

Take look at the earth connection points too as it is likely they all share the same one - such as the one behind the steering column.

It's likely to be Relay 100 (bottom row, 2nd from left on the relay plate under the dash).

Relay 100 is also know as the 'X' contact relief relay or terminal 75X relay

Thanks for that I'll check that out when I get home from work.

Was hoping it would be something simple like that and an easy fix.

Ill let you know if it cured it.

Relay 100 was indeed the culprit so thanks for the help.

If anyone finds this thread later and needs to order one the order number is 4HO 951 253C for a MK2 octy (even skoda gave me the wrong info to start with) or 4HO 951 253A for the MK 1.
