Cruise Control Fix

Featured Replies

If you don't have contact cleaner, vodka on a cotton bud does the job brilliantly. Had this twice in 6 years. Takes 5 mins to do with a hex and a stong finger nail. No filing required... :-)

Hi All,

I am new to this game but I am looking for some help?

I am clutching at straws here but noticed earlier in this post, ie, 4 years ago a similar problem that is now occurring with my car.

I have Cruise Control on my Octavia and have the problem where it works until you use the right indicator.

To reset the system the car has to be switched off and the Cruise then works until you turn right.

A number of strands seems to lead to the complete stalk being replaced.

I have cleaned the switch but I am going to have a go at cleaning it again.

Looking forward to some help.

Does anyone have the PDF for the instructions still? Unfortunately the site is down now :(

Does anyone know if the computer stalk opens the same way as mine is a little bit hit and miss on occasion.

EDIT: It does work the same way, what an easy fix

I have had that error too Mike, going to wait a few weeks and see if its back. The black pads had some kind of furring inside (the brass contacter was clean) hopefully this has fixed it

I have had intermittent failures of the Cruise Control switches and also un-called-for windscreen wipes. The CC would sometimes not lock on and, worse, sometimes asking for lock-on produced hard acceleration - presumable doing a "resume" to a faster setting. The sprung "OFF" switch often failed to work but the brake switch disconnected the CC. Thanks to the above posts I have removed and cleaned the sliding contacts with alcohol.  I used a half inch wood chisel to prise off the switch cover without damaging the plastic. Both switch covers are opened in the same way but it is not necessary to remove them completely - better to leave the far end in place and gently bend the cover. Pictures show the CC switch cover open (LHD car), CC switch disassembled and computer/intermittent wipe switch disassembled. I don't know the resultspost-87987-0-58580400-1479035590_thumb.jpgpost-87987-0-48831400-1479035572_thumb.jpgpost-87987-0-43227400-1479035608_thumb.jpg yet and I am hoping that the sealed push-button switches are not faulty.

I had the same error codes on mine, but mine doesn't have cruise control.

The problem I was getting was the wiper intermittent switch was playing up, not noticing when you changed the speed setting using the toggle on top. This sorted that too.

That should fix it

I have exactly the same problem, CC works until a right turn is indicated and then won't work until the ignition is off and re-started. Have you had any luck with a fix?
