P.S. 'muppets' Rob? Careful, you'll get outnumbered at this rate! :p

Sorry Steve. Didn't mean to offend.

I didn't realise you were a muppet too.

:p

This question is mainly aimed at Stu, although others who have had their wheels painted/powder-coated may be able to answer:

What do you do about the outward-facing surface of the wheel nuts?

I see on the pics of Stu's wheels (above) that they appear to be the same colour as the wheels

The wheel nut covers on mine happen to be the same colour as the anthracite paint so didnt need to colour them. I think someone else on here bought some vw golf nut covers which are darker

LOL! count me in too although ive not taken mine off yet as its too bleedin cold!

I should point out that mine were a full re-colour from the place in Chester as he does a full wheels off service which Chris (the owner) said gives better durability.

1. chemical strip

2. powder coat primer baked on

3. colour sprayed on with multiple coats.

4. lacquer baked on

LOL. Yep, guilty as charged!

Same process for mine as above, then 2 layers of Jetseal when I got them home, then a coat of Collinite :D

Super shiny

Cheers for the info Tim; will keep him in mind. Just round the corner from Awesome then

Tim - good to have recommendations for decent places in the area. Can you post up some more details?

FWIW, I had mine refurbed by an old friend of mine who runs a refurb business, but he's near Coventry! I'd also consider The Wheel Specialist, especially with one of their frequent discount codes. I know several who've used their Manchester branch and would recommend them.

Cheers,

Steve

+1 for TWS, a little Tip if you can't find a discount code, get a quote off them and get ailed to you then leave it for about a month then they send you a discount code for typically 20-25% off!

Example.... B)

Ah! Just searched for them on eBay and see there is a few options. That might be the better option than getting the existing nuts painted/coated. Cheers Stu!

Pop your details in on the website. You'll get the standard price back straight away.

Then you should get an offer email next time they send them out - usually it's one every month or so :)

Called them up mate. Then popped in this afternoon. Looks like I'll be using these guys. Heard loads of good reviews. They are a little more than most but they are local, do a proper job and provide a warranty on their work. Happy days.

Just the colour dilemma now. :wonder:

What price did they quote for you anyway?

When I last asked, before I had mine done, I was quoted £240inc for 18s done in a standard finish. That didn't include any tyre removal or fitting as they were loose wheels.

£265 for everything. Drive the car in. Leave it for a day. Collect it at tea time. Everything done.

Good deal I'd say, for that service. And you know they'll do a decent job.

Suppose that slight increase against my last price is largely accounted for by the VAT increase.

Their location isn't bad if you'll be hanging around Manchester while they're done. Not too bad a walk down to Piccadilly and into the City Centre.
