My Vrs Is Ready

Featured Replies

Hi, all I have been told at last that my VRS hatch diesel was build week commencing 31st Jan 2011.

The spec of my car is as follows, VRS Diesel Hatch, front and rear parking sensors, Maxidot, MDI, full leather (no heated seats), light sensor and Xenons.

Advice please re the following.

Anyone know how long it takes from being built to ship to UK. does it mean week commencing 31st Jan its built then week commencing 7th Feb it is taken to Docks then following week to UK? How long does it take for the ship to get from Docks to UK. Can i track this?, do we know who they use to ship the cars?

What do I need to check on collection of car as I am travelling from up North to London to collect. I believe you have to make sure that the Xenons are activated, how can I check this, might sound daft?

What do people think I should ask to be activated i.e cornering fogs?

Thanks in advance.

2 to 3 weeks from arriving in the docks

Xenons will do their startup dance if activated

ie. up, down, left and right together

You can ask about the cornering fogs but IMO are a waste of time..My dealer didnt know how to activate them..they said :dull:

Cheers for the reply Chris, might sound daft this but to check the Xenons do there dance is it a matter of just turning on the ignition or do I have to turn the lights on?

My car was built in week 4 and have been told by my dealer they have consignment number and it will be ready next week ! Bloomin quick considering I ordered on the 20th Dec ! However I have stated on my order form that I dont want it registered until after 1st March.

Surely, surely no dealership would let a car go without the headlamps working...or am I grasping the wrong end of the stick?

I have heard that on some cars the Xenons had not been activated, i.e will light up but not turn in corners etc...

So I take it is pot luck on shipment then.

Do all FL cars with xenons have adaptive/cornering headlights now then?

With regards the setup, I'd get them to check the alignment as well. If they do MoTs they should be able to perform the same test. In my experience with 3 cars fitted with factory xenons, their height is not set properly. So you'll either potentially blind oncoming traffic, or they'll be too low and won't give you the expected performance.

Apart from that, just go round the whole car with a fine tooth comb

xenon dance and cornering fogs for you ........

if you have light sensor and ambient lighting is low ...lights will come on automatically and do the dance...or else just switch them on once after switching on the ignition...

hope this helps!

The engine has to be running for the 'dance' to work. You have maxidot so they can be switched on/off from there...

Marlborough Skoda by any chance?

There is a tick box on the display. Says bend light I seem to recall. Not sure if the lights do the dance if that box is or is not ticked, expect it does it anyways to check motors. Still have not decided if it is gimmick or good but it is wierd, reminds me of riding the motorcycle. Better when front fogs/driving lights are on too I think.

front fog/driving lights? The only other lights on the front of an Octavia apart from the headlights and DRL's are Fog lights which are illegal to use if it isn't foggy.

Yep - its where i got mine from

Be a bit wary....they are totally disinterested in Dtd sales (i presume this is where you got it from?) as they are loosing money on them. They expected me to pay for the car without even seeing it! I had to ask them to get the car down from the car park for me (i was early though).

Make sure they put fuel in it for you as you aren't having it delivered so they are saving a fortune on a driver and fuel.

Check the paint work for scratches etc

Check all your options are there

Thats about it really - they had all my paperwork ready in a pack so that was all together

My car was fine and all as specced etc so you should be ok.

Can't wait to see it!

I Ordered mine at the end of June Last year. Rang the dealer (Jewsons Skoda Oxford0 Every month or so. and was getting told I'd have it mid December. Mid November I recived a call to say it was on a ship so thought it would be at least 3 weeks yet but 2 days later I had a cll to say it was in there compound and took delivery 25th November. :D

I have Xenons on my Elegance but they dont seem to turn at all at any speed. I have bend lighting ticked in Maxidot. I assume its a trip to the dealers to sort?

Same here, The Xenons dance etc and Bend lights is ticked in Maxidot. However I cannot tell they are moving when turning...is it hard to tell?
