Anyone Changed Fog Lights On Mk 1 Octy?

Featured Replies

morning all

bought some new bulbs for my mk1 octy vrs and have fitted them and all is good. but would also like to do the fog lights but these look like a little wiring is needed? the bulb to fit them comes with a white cable with a small o ring on the end? anyone fitted this before? difficult job to do?

also - is the roof lining easy to change on this car? mine is manked up with tar from the previous owner and would like to change it. have tried cleaning but its more stained than a 16 year old boys bed sheets now!

any comments welcome :smirk:

1) That sounds like an H3 bulb. It means making 2 separate connections rather than a 2 or 3 way plug like H1, H4 and H7 use.

2) Changing a moulded headliner is a complete PITA!!

thanks for the response. yeah its a H3 bulb but looks like a right ****ter to fit!!

is the headliner just a matter of unscrewing all grab handles etc or is it a bit more complicated?

The bulb is a piece of piddle to change. The wire just makes it look complicated but it's an easy unplug/plug job.

I'm running these bulbs in my fog units, and I can't fault them: http://www.powerbulbs.com/product_detail.asp?prod=194

(Even though they are named blue vision, they don't actually give off blue light!)

ah perfect bodge. yeah got my main bulbs from these guys so will buy some and have a go. any suggestions on the roof lining? fed up of it looking so yuk!!

I've got H3 Led fog's in my foglights just to match the colour of my aftermarket HID kit and led side light bulbs

You know I said changing the headliner was a complete PITA. Look at the top of the A-post; now turn your head and look at the base of the C-post. That is one very large, thin moulding. Do you have a good mate who's also a coach trimmer? I don't even know anyone who is!

yeah you're right big job. i have bought some auto headliner/upholstry shampoo so i am gonna have another go at cleaning it this weekend if the weather holds up. gonna try vacuuming it as well but it is wafer thin

If that doesn't work out, you might be able to do something with fabric paint, but if you're going to try that, find a crashed example and experiment on that to see if the paint disolves the flocking, or even the plastic, first.
