Hi all

Looking to buy a 2001 1.4MPi for my stepson

Owner says that its a timing chain not a cam belt.

Is he correct?

The only petrol Fabia with a Cambelt is the 1.4 16v. All the rest have a chain. I think all diesels have a belt though.

That's what he is saying, the 1.4 is the only petrol with a belt, however the 2.0 also has/had a belt.

When I said ALL other petrols, I meant, 1.2 6v, 1.2 12v, 1.4 8v. I'd forgotten about the 2.0, which I didn't know anyway. I have a feeling the very early Fabias had a 1.0l engine, but I'm not sure if it was sold in the UK.

Yes there was a 1.0 but not in uk, but it was a 1.0 version of the MPi anyhow.
