How do i stop the rear wiper?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I rarely use the rear wiper, so have disabled it in the MFD from "Auto" but, if the fronts have been going, on auto or manual, and you engage reverse, within a minute or so of a wipe, the rear wiper, wipes once.

It's bugging me, as for the past 8 years, i've had Limo Windows and sometimes drive vans without rear windows.. - so i feel it just messes up the screen, scratching it etc.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Al.

It can be coded out with VCDS:

Open controller 09 - 'Cent. Elec'.

Open 07 - coding, then open long coding helper.

Byte 21 Bit 6: 'Automatic rear window wiping with reverse gear active' Ticked to activate, untick to deactivate.

I think the auto rear wiper setting is to do with the setting of the front wiper (auto or position 2 and 3) and vehicle speed.

As above, I understand you can only get an auto wipe at the rear when engaging reverse if the front wipers are on.

Seems a handy thing to me. If it's raining, it's raining. If it's not raining then your wipers wouldn't be on.

Personally I don't have an issue with what the rear wiper does, the wiper blade itself is pretty poor. It doesn't apply enough pressure to the glass and smears badly. I have never had an aero style rear wiper that works properly.
