New models and badge

Featured Replies

Heard from good sources who saw and heard at a Skoda dealers conference this week that Skoda will replace the badge in the coming months + 4 new models, the small car, another one which will fit between the Fabia and the Octavia and works are underway for the new for the new Octavia and a Superb facelift. So no rumours anymore, the first two models are to be on the market very soon, probably later this year ... Hope they won't get any silly names ...

Skoda cannot keep up with demand for what they make now, so how are they going to cope with an expanded model range? Turn the Seat factory in Spain over to Skoda production? LOL

Skoda to buy Alfa from Fiat for their "sporty range" and ditch Seat name but use the Spanish facility and cheap labour is what I heard.

Yes new models, new badge and new Corporate identity for dealerships.

Skoda have just registered the following names with the trademark authorities in CZ: Hero, Viva, Vivia and Rapid :)

be nice to have the Rapid name back again, not sure on Skoda Hero, guessing that might be on a smaller Skoda model to appeal to younger buyers.

Those names I have mentioned may not neccesarily be used, but they have registered them. Other names they have registered in the past but not used include Townster, FourRoad, Spacester...

New logo will be silver arrow on a black background on the cars but green on literature, websites at dealers e.t.c. (apparantly!)

That badge is only a poor quality render, there are other versions out there that look far better. I bet it will look on the flesh once we actually get to see a real one.

Anyone remember Vauxhall having a Viva, I do , it was to compete with the Escort when it first came out.

I learnt to drive in a Vauxhall Viva- dreadful car- plastic covered seats, linear speedo, 70s build quality Once drove one for 4 months with oil warning light on though- refused to die on me :giggle:

I've seen the new badge in the flesh and it's nothing like the one linked to. Badge on the actual car is silver on black in a silver circle, kinda like it was in the 80's and early 90's.

The "Skoda" logotype has changed and also looks retro. Somewhat like the current Skoda Holding logo :

The communication logo is a slightly new green on white with some 3Dish silver bevels.

Embargo will be lifted early march. First car we'll see the new badge on is the NSF to be unveiled at Geneva.

I dont think the blue will look nice personally I love the drawing concepts badge like this, give it more of a upmarket sign 12_780x585.jpg

There's no blue anywhere, don't believe the rumours. The badge looks like the pic you posted, only on a black background.

Sounds good. I think losing the green on the car badges is a good move. Will look classier.

Yes Steve, I had one too, a 1159cc SL 3 door in Auzure Blue! My first car.

I can even bring a pic of it to the next meet if anyone is slightly interested!!

News release in Autocar:

Skoda to launch new concept at Geneva

Skoda will reveal its next design language with a new concept car at the Geneva motor show.

Confirming the new concept, a Skoda statement said it “boasts clearly defined shapes and a great sense of detail that will adorn Skoda’s new models from 2012”.

The firm has given no other clues about the concept, but has said it will also feature the firm’s new badge that will be on all Skoda models from 2012. The logo will coincide with a modernisation in the design and layout of Skoda’s showrooms.

“The traditional winged-arrow logo features a new spectrum of colours to look even more distinct and precise than ever before,” said the statement.

Skoda said its new look and concept car have come about following two record years for sales and growth. The company sold a total 762,600 vehicles last year, beating its 2009 figure of 684,200 – an increase of 11.5 per cent.

The firm has said it will also be displaying its new Monte Carlo special edition Fabia that celebrates its motorsport achievements.

No more details yet - Chris

Same info on SUK and Skoda- Auto sites this morning- comment about "spectrum of colours" in new logo is interesting given the heavy liking in this thread for simple designs :wonder:

The roofline and rear :wonder: looks very similar to that AutoCZ photo see My link

Same sheet as well :D

I am guessing the concept shown at Geneva might actually be a tarted up version of the Octavia 3...
