Possable octavia door seal issue

Featured Replies

hey guys hopefully someone can shed some light on this i have a 55 plate mk1 vrs estate ive noticed since i fitted a pillar mounted boost gauge pod that there seems to be water running down the edge of the seal where it meets the headlining and around the pod onto the dash ive put sika flex on the bottom of the roof rails where they come through the roof as i thought it might have been that i cant see water coming through the windscreen seal so im hoping its a door seal i was woundering if anuone else has heard of this i was also told by my girlfriend when i wash the car water splashes through on that side but ive not seen it

That is fairly high up for a leak - not many options really. Either windscreen rubber, or maybe the door seals right at the top, or as you say maybe the roof rails mount points are allowing water in.

Does your vrs have a sunroof? could it be a block/split drain pipe?

No mate no sunroof it would have been first port of call if my windscreen excess wasn't 100 I'd be having it replaced instead of repaired see it it was that it's annoying the he'll out of me now

My local friendly garage is happy to take out windscreens and refit, so it might be worth trying that.

I had an autoglass replacement screen the gf's felecia and that leaked like a sieve, and my garage popped the glass out and refitted it for me, removing all the old sealing stuff, which I think was the problem. The issue with the felicia was a wet passenger side, and flooded fuse box.

£100 excess sounds rather high, mine is £60 - maybe time to change insurance companies :giggle:

That is extreme , did it leak before you did gauge???If not it will be something you desterbed,Go back and check?where did you run wires and so on??? Won't be windscreen not if you have done stuff double check??? get hose pipe and keep putting water on roof area and door area till you find it??

I think it's just that I've not noticed in the past as the gauge ain't been there for it to go around I havnt disturbed any gromets that side so rules that out think it's probably windscreen
