Nope, this function is lost when retro fitting a DX unit.

Let's first be clear that your english is a lot better than my Serbian............... :D

Secondly it's a DX unit fitted to the Superb, the MFD 1 is for use within the VW marque, they are the same units although they illuminate and have different start up screens.

I don't have that many pics of the interior but here are a couple:

I have 3 question:

1.Can it play mp3?

2.Is this sony ps2?

3.Does it have green lights,when the lights are on?

Its most beautiful superb i have ever seen!

Oh and another question could you connect iphone and dx unit(mfd1)?

And another:what is this (like a charger of mobile-phone)?Is it charger for skoda mobile phone or for some other mark of mobile?

Tnx for fast reply! B)

1) If you copied MP3 CD's then yes but there is no port for playing MP3's off a hard disk or memory card only through the CD Changer Port or the AUX input;

2) Yep, that's a slim line PS2 in the glove box;

3) Yep, green lights under illumination just as the rest of the dashboard;

4) You will see a cradle in those shots that was for my Sony Ericsson mobile, this has now been replaced with an iPhone and I have connected a Dietz wire to allow me to play my iPod songs through the CD changer port and it also charges the phone at the same time......... :thumbup:

Tnx for reply,i just hope that when you have free time you will capture photo with iphone holder(to see how it look like)

All in all,the only drawback is that there are no info on board computer?

Is it hard to connect ps2 and unit?And is it hard to find iphone holder?

I will get a snap for you tomorrow and post it up but it's not that exciting.............. :no:

It's no drawback for me on the obboard computer, it's old technology anyway so I guess if you want something that works properly like on a newer motor, you need to buy a newer motor............ :yes:

The PS2 wiring is pretty common and I bought something like a Dietz 1212........ :thumbup:

Personally I did not bother with the PS2 in the end. Instead I set my system up to an ipod classic, which allows lots of music and also videos to be played. I have also connected a rear view camera to it which dispalys on screen automatically when reverse gear is selected (very useful).

Note the DX unit also displays sat nav information on the dashboard instrument panel when installed properly.

You need one of these to connect to the aux of a DX system.

Hmmm,i will buy skoda navi dx system next month,and i want to know every detail.Thanks for answers.

I have skoda superb 2.5 tdi(classic) 2003-year.In my car there is no parking sensors(and no navigation-just a simple skoda symphony cassete player.When i buy navi system dx,will it be nav information on the dashboard instrument panel or not?How to install navi?(just to connect cables,or something extra)?For what is media interface mfd?

I plan to buy cd charger to play cd-s,because i dont know other solutions.Can you help me,i know english very poor,but i'm trying.Also i need to know will vw passat parking sensors work with my skoda navi system dx?Because,here in Serbia, new parking sensors for skoda are very very expensive...Once again tnx for answers and help. :thumbup:

And i forget,which cable can conect my iphone 3g with skoda system navi? ;)

Not the case, the DX will only display on the dashboard if you have the original Sat Nav wiring already fitted into the dash, if you have a comfort model like mine then this is not possible unless you are prepared to retrofit an elegance wiring harness and rip out half the dash........... :yes:

Interested in the camera setup - I've thought of it a few times before (about the only way I'll get SWMBO to drive it I think). What camera have you used and where is it positioned? What's the view like? (any chance of posting a pic?)

And how visible is the camera from the outside?

I've seen one advertised that is meant to replace one of the rear number plate lamps (though presumably that would then fail to illuminate the number plate clearly/legally?).

cheers

Hi I brought one of these off ebay.

camera on ebay

Be warned it is china cheap!

or try

autobulbs

I tried it in the boot light hole but it was plain ugly and stuck out way too much for my liking so I positioned it here instead (and thus the wiring was easier too)

The picture is good enough to see hidden objects or how close you are to walls or cars behind.

5132824647_6bd7fbc212.jpg

Works fine even when dirty or at night.

I took the cables through the rubber in the spare wheel well. Connected the power cable up to the the reversing light wire (with an inline fuse) to power the camera up when the car is put in reverve gear.

Also took a wire from reversing light wire via an inle fuse to the passanger footwell. This is then connected to The Multimedia unit wiring via a standard car relay with turns the media unit on when the car is in reverse and thus the picture comes on.

You need one very long high quality video wire from the camera to the muiltmedia unit.

I also have a Y splitter on the video input of the media box to allow for 2 video inputs (the rear veiw camera and the ipod).

Baker,

you are right mine is an elegancy model. And an intresting point as I was going to try and convert my dad's comfort model. Perhaps I won't now then.

Love your black carpets with the cream interior. Do you know how many hours I spend cleaning the carpets in my car :)

I post some photos of unit out with wires for reference / interest to others.
