Not a bad spec one too. ESP and side airbags. Unless it doesn't actually have them.

Jeez that car looks cleaner than my white 2010 car emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Seller could be confusing ASR for ESP, as thats quiet a common thing and a vRS of that year would not have had side airbags. In fact I dont think they were ever an extra on the MK1.

ESP was an option on the vRS from late 2003 (Standard on the WRC)

Side air bags were again fitted to the WRC, no option though for other vRS's.

Looks really good considering 200k!!!

Yeah, it probably has ASR. I always thought side airbags were an option on the vRS.

I had one of the first VRS's as a tax free sale while i was serving in Germany it was just as the car was released for sale and mine had ESP!

High mileage but the car has been used for motorway commuting since new.

Then why would you buy a vRS?! They are adequate on the motorway but not the wisest choice surely?!

EDIT- Didn't realise it was a 2002, I guess the mileage/year isn't quite as bad. Still stand by my comment if it sits on the motorway 99% of the time.

Pretty impressive, a friend of mine has one on 185k I think - still original everything too!

Mine is a baby on 43k - only done 1k since November.

Mine sits on the motorway 99% of the time. Why is this not wise?

Yours is a diesel. He meant there must be a more economical car for the job compared to 1.8t petrol.

Imagine how much fuel that's drunk in 200k !

Mine have 243k and it's still strong

a 03 1.9TDI

Yup this. Plus I find that the mk1 vRS at least is a bit noisy on the motorway with lots of tyre noise. Also a bit on the harsh side suspension wise. IMO if all you are doing is sitting on the motorway you might as well have the benefit of soft suspension.

bought my VRS in 2005 2 months before its 3rd birthday on 106k

did 20k in the following 5 years whilst my sister had it.

got it back oct 2009 from my sis and now sits on 153k. was going about 500 a week but not been using it much since novemeber.

My 2002 Octavia VRS has 256.000 mile on it.

:| ...Still on the origional engine?

Yep, original engine, gearbox, had a full history til I got it, no record of new clutch either, had a new turbo, I fitted that when the exhaust manifold cracked, I found a little tiny bit of play in the turbine bearing so I changed it.

Lovely car and its yellow!

i like it when people say

'120k still runs and handles like new'

Im pretty sure it doesnt, else nobody would buy a brand new car.

normally translates into 'it has an underlying problem that i hope you wont notice but ill make up for it by trying to oversell the vehicle with my gift for the gab'

:)

The advert i bought mine from said 'like new' and still the origional springs and theyre are ssssooooo bad and sloppy, and a little bit of somethign with the bushes underneath

I bought mine with full dealer history at 140k on it, well worth it as it had every thing changed that you would expect for a car of that mileage, shocks, springs, bearings, suspension arms etc etc, I paid £3k less for mine than my friend paid for hers of the smae year 3 months before because of the mileage and the smell of cigar smoke inside. Since I got it I do all the work myself, I have changed the springs again (due to them snapping), pads, suspension arms, roll bar bushes, exhaust, turbo, exhaust manifold, drivers door lock, cambelt twice (second time garage did it), cv joints, tripode joints. I have done 110k in it since 2006, it has even done track days. The car is the dogs dangly bits and in fairness is dead reliable, I expect little bits to wear out as the car gets driven hard.

I also stand corrected the car has done 255.103 when I arrived home from work yesterday evening.
