Vibration driving me mad

Featured Replies

Maybe theyre all the same, but my diesel Fabia is doing my head in with small vibrations that I can feel in my feet through the footrest or the accelerator pedal.

In all honesty I've not really noticed it much before, but I was driving a 10yr old 1.9 TDI Passat last week and as soon as I started it up it felt so much smoother and quieter than the Fabia. Anyway since then it has been getting on my nerves.

It's only noticeable when driving around town with the engine at fairly low revs, sitting at and pullin away from junctions. At higher speeds it can't really be felt at all. Is it just the way they all are?

There is definately some vibration throught he steering wheel at higher speeds, I put this down to the tyres needing air, yet when I checked them yesterday there was actually slightly too much in them. My front tyres seem ok and have a reasonable amount of tread, but the rears are going to need replacing very soon. I would have thought vibration through the steering wheel would be affected more by the front tyres than the rears?

I think I'm going to have to go and test drive another Fabia to put my mind at rest lol.

I just need to keep driving it fast then?! :p

Could be one of the engine mounts that is worn?

At lower RPM the diesel engines will vibrate quite a lot.

yes check the gearbox mount and bottom dog bone mount changed both these and this transformed my car they are prone to going wrong

Well in all honesty I dont think it was this bad 6 months ago. Will have a look at the mounts when I get the car up to fit my rarb.

I'm going to get these two checked out too.

I have a clunking noise changing gear, most noticeable in 1st and second when moving slowly.

I also get a lot of clunking noises when traveling over rough bumpy roads, speed bumps etc.

Don't think I had these noises when I bought it...
