Hi

My '02 WRX is up for sale, looking for something quick, fun and economical. Seriously looking at a Fabia vRS.

Decisions, decisions.....

Wouldn't trade mine for a scoob or anything else for that matter. Go for it :D

Welcome to briskoda, you will have mad a good choice with the furby. What else have you considered so far?

2002 WRX (Bugeye) WR Blue 29000miles. It has full decat with Scoobysport stainless steel exhaust. It should be just shy of 250bhp.

Don't get me wrong I am a Scooby fanatic, I'm just getting fed up with the cost of ownership. My wife drives it for the majority of the time as I don't want to run the miles up just to and from work (44miles a day). She only goes to the shops/school and back. We're lucky to see 270miles to a 60 litre tank of Optimax!

I started looking at just getting something new, plain and boring. More than likely diesel. My thoughts were "I'm not going to get anything quicker for less so why not just get something boring and cheap"

Then I picked up Autoexpress a couple of weeks ago and it had a review of the Fiesta ST, Clio 182, Seat 1.8T and the vRS. I have driven Skoda's at work and really liked them.

From what I can see I can buy a brand new vRS for just over

Did a similar thing to you almost a year ago. Went from a lightly modded '98 UK turbo to a Fabia 1.9 TDi (Elegance not vRS). I've spent a few quid on mine to make it handle and I've also stuck a 30 quid tuning box on it, to bleed a few more horses out of the engine.

Mine's fairly quick, fairly fun and very economical, but the best bit about it is no-one knows what it is when you overtake them. ;) Other strong points compared with the Scooby are cost to buy and run and also the cheapness of mods (compared to the Scooby!). I guess the real test will be when you take one for a test drive and see what you think. :D

scoobystuff, I do an 80 mile round trip to work, I would be VERY hard pressed to find something that will " Do the job ", and be as enjoyable & relaxing to drive.

Test drive, you will be surprised.

Sorry to read about the carjack, any damage ?

Steve

Scoobystuff, go for it. I went from a 320bhp my96 scooby to a fabia vrs and havent looked back. I do miss the scooby a bit but its amazing how much money im saving now. I know the performance is'nt that of a scooby but you will be surprised how pokey they actually are. Although being a scooby owner the mpg figure of the vrs will be a bit of a shock, it was for me.

Just got to get mine sold then I will look around for a test drive!

Hi, I'm new to this forum too! (been on Scoobynet for years though!).

Soon (15/3/05, build starts w/c 14/2/05) I will be the proud owner of a Fab vRS to compliment my 330 Brake MY03 STi. (Managed to persuade my wife she really needed one for her car - I drive it 60% of the time!)

Had a look at the fiesta & clio but couldn't see the cash in either compared to the vRS. Like you say it's difficult to find a negative review & all the owners I spoke to love them.

Currently I use our p.o.s. Saxo VTR for journey's where the petrol costs on the scooby are prohibitive & I hate it, so looking forward to enjoying ALL my driving again.

Ste

Cheers for the plug Jon ;)
