Octavia Security

Featured Replies

the octavia has the option to lock all doors with the remote control. In this manner the door will not open neither from the outside nor from the inside, so you could actually lock someone inside. Hence a would-be thief should not be bothered to break the window, because he still cannot open the door...

is this the correct concept behind it ?

Yes, it was explained to me by the dealer as 'press once is locked, press twice in succession it is dead-locked', but reading the manual (and trying it myself from inside the car) I found it worked the other way around.

Q.

Yes - Q and the manual are correct. I hadn't thought about how it works until I read this post. I live and learn! :)

Another one for the FAQ then methinks :D

The dealer I spoke to said when the little red LEDs next to the door-button are flashing, that means the dead-locks are on.

BTW, Hi everyone on Briskoda!

Great board, I've been reading for a while as a 'guest' but now as I'm actually a Skoda owner I thought I should register!

Welcome to Briskoda, MJR. As you have been around for a while you should have developed a 'feel' for what goes on above and below the surface. A few words of advice: don't mention colour unless you have to; learn the vRS wave ( ) and use it at every opportunity; and don't post sightings other than of the vRS - unless you want to upset our more highly strung members. Apart from that, post all you want and have fun. :D

B_wave.gif Denis!

Oh and welcome MJR :D

Which Skoda did you buy?

And what colour - unless lemon yellow or dynamic blue - in which case you may plead the Fifth Amendment.

I bought a silver VRS estate in the end.

I was going to get black - cause they look cool, but I'm to lazy to clean it all the time, so I got silver instead (which looks just as good).

I'm very happy with it at the moment, I like the the way you can open/close all the windows with the key!!

So, what's the deal with Skoda vRS drivers? Are we supposed to wave and flash at each other like VW Beetle drivers?

If you own a silver vRS Estate, what's with the avatar, MJR? Yes, you are supposed to flash and wave at each other - but be aware that quite a few police forces are now using Octavias - and it is also mandatory to report all sightings of a vRS in Was It You? :(

Such jealousy ;)

The avatar is my other car - a 1986 VW Polo 1.0c... it only cost

Welcome MJR,

its especially mandatory to wave at any other skoda with a Briskoda sticker it!

although dont do what I did and buzz a white 4x4 on a private stretch of my driveway at 140mph only to find the car was not Tavia4x4 with a big Briskoda sticker but some poor motorway construction worker who wondered what the hell was going on

;)

re the security - has anyone upgraded their alarm/ immobiliser - having read other threads about vRS being the new cossie.. i wouldnt mind an anti hijack system - but i want to retain the existing blippers?
