Sorted the bonnet, its a few mm out but its on both sides now so it isn't that noticeable, also got the gaps equal again.

I lined up the hinges and adjusted the height the bonnet sits at using the bonnet stops

Bet you're glad that's sorted mate.

Well done for getting to the bottom of it. :thumbup:

Yeah it was really starting to bug me, now just need to get it prepared for its next show on Sunday.

Seen your show plates, love the star wars reference :rofl:

I love my Star Wars.

Had to get a reference in there somewhere.

Besides, I have a vinyl Vader sticker hidden up

in my sunstrip which is the same as my screen icon.

Plus Empire badges and Sith emblems in my rear quarters.

Was going to go with "no smoke no poke" but

it seems that ones taken :giggle:

You've no idea how unbelievably jealous I am of you right now!

Sith emblems instead of skoda badges would be awesome, even better than decepticon logo's which I was considering :D

Got the replacement parts ordered from Skoda for when I fit my coilovers, which will hopefully be getting ordered tonight :)

Latest prices from Skoda incase anyone else is interested;

Strut Mount….6Q0412331B…£22.26 +VAT EACH

Strut Bearing…6N0412249C..£11.88 + VAT EACH

I get a very helpful 15% discount which means their costing me £69.65 INC VAT, bit more than I expected but since everything is increasing in price just got to accept it.

Picked these up from Skoda yesterday;

Also my M14 spline bit arrived so once I sort out the small problem with the bank I can get the coilovers ordered :)

Today I prepared the car for the Fyneline Show n' Shine at Inverary Castle tomorrow which is in support of Marie Currie Cancer Support.

Started off with a double wash using Dodo Juice Born To Be Mild Shampoo.

2011-08-20101014.jpg

I then used Poorboys Black Hole Show Glaze

2011-08-20123229.jpg

2011-08-20123213.jpg

Finished off with a single coat of Dodo Juice Purple Haze, really cant recommend this wax enough! I was going to give it two coats but it looked great after just one so left it at that. For the trim I used peanut butter (it really does work). I also gave the engine bay a very thorough clean.

Just an excuse to take some photos :D

Could these strut tops and strut bearings possibly be causing the front left knocking I'm getting? Console and arb bushes already replaced. I had a knock before coilies were fitted abd got noticably worse after I had fitted them.

Looks great altho tyre paint is essential lol :)!

Yesterday I was at Extreme Motorsport in Whitburn with the TVR Owners Club for a Rolling Road day. Unfortunately I forgot to video the dyno run but I did get some photos;

It did not end the day well

There was one other TVR, my mates 4.2 V8 Cerbera however I missed it on the dyno, it was 2nd most powerful, it had only lost 1.6 bhp over 12 years.

The car made 144.6 bhp and 227 lbs.ft of torque. I'm a little surprised with the torque figure however I now know what i'm working with. Coilovers should be here tomorrow, fitted this weekend, then October it'll be remap and 312mm brake time followed by another RR session.

Got the coilovers fitted yesterday, hit a few problems along the way but managed to sort most of them.

Firstly I jacked up the car and removed the wheel, I then removed the FARB drop link from the strut and also the track rod end. Next I used an M14 spline bit ro remove the rear bolt that holds the hub together, I then had to split the hub to allow the strut to be removed. Also I used spring compressors to compress the springs before removal.

The first few problems related to the track rod ends, the heads had completely rusted away which meant I could remove the bolt, I ended up having to hacksaw the bolt off. New track rod ends will be bought next week, we did manage to secure the old ones but they definately need replaced.

The next problem was with one of the new top mounts, whilst fitting I managed too shear the nut from the mount itslef, had to pay £32 for a new one premium delivery from Skoda, lesson learned not too rush things!

New vs Old

2011-09-02161851.jpg

Fitting the new strut wasn't too difficult, I then reattached the FRAB drop link and track rod end. I cleaned up the old bolt for the hub as it was very rusty.

With the front sorted I moved onto the rear which were much easier. Again jacked the car up and removed the wheels. Compressed the springs and removed them. I then removed the splash guards and removed the strut mounts.

2011-09-03175412.jpg

I then removed the old struts from the mounts, I reused the covers from the old struts then refitted the shocks and new springs, including the adjusters.

2011-09-03171538.jpg

Reattached the various bolts etc including RARB.

2011-09-03175849.jpg

2011-09-03175858.jpg

I'll need to let the coilovers bed in over the next week then i'll readjust them, however this is how the car sits at the moment.
