Hi mate, first post on here only signed up last night to view your thread, love what you have done with the engine bay so far, only thing i would say is the washer bottle might look better matt black rather than gloss. Other than that all looks really good pal.

how did you go about painting the calipers mate? did you paint them on the car? give em a good clean and some light sanding then just paint? cheers

Cheers mate, I've actually put the old coolant tank back on, the painted one was starting to peel so going too have to sand it back and start again, think i'll try a more matt colour, the previous colour was Skoda Black Magic to match the car but it does look a bit out of place in the engine bay tbh

Alright mate, the front calipers I took off and got the grinder/wire brush into them then gave them 2 coats, the rears I ended up cleaning then painting them on the car as they weren't in too bad a shape overall

Update time, the Samco lime green coolant hoses arrived on friday so I started removing the old ones and replacing them with the nice bright green ones. The first went on without a problem (Coolant tank recirc), the next ones were the group to the right of the engine bay, I managed too snap one of the plastic joiners so had too strip it apart and repair it. Easy fix and got the pipes on without much more hassle. The Coolant tank has also been swapped for the original as the black one needs repainted (not happy with the finish) Pictures will be up tonight.

On a more problematic note my lower boost pipe has been causing me endless trouble, ended up under the car in an ASDA carpark in glasgow yesterday with a roll of duct tape! I'm aware its a common problem so just waiting on the price of a new pipe from Skoda, if its very expensive I might just fire some self tappers into and hope for the best. Also blew a fuse at the weekend, one of the 10 amp ones so I have no interior lights etc at the moment, wasn't able too find any kicking about the garage so need to get one from Skoda aswell.

I'm also in the process of getting a complete OEM exhaust fairly cheap, my plan is too remove the back box and replace it with a straight pipe (mufflerectomy) whilst retaining an OEM tip, should also be able too reuse the hangers so should be a straight swap, depending on the sound and if I like it I have the option of decating the centre section aswell. By doing it this way I can keep my original exhaust system in case of any problems and for MOT time as I think the rules are changing next year (correct me if i'm wrong).

Anyway i'll fire up some photos of the new coolant hoses tonight

As you can see I've swapped the coolant tank back over for now while I repaint the other one. I'm undecided wether or not too do the fuel hoses, it would finish it off really well but to do the visible ones is going to cost about £160. Something i'll need to think on.

Loving the under bonnet colour sceam,

Very nice looking car you have there.

Update time, i've been having boost leak problems recently, the lower boost pipe repeatedly popped off, thats now sorted thanks to TrevorB33 selling me his sfs silicone lower boost pipe;

Installed Pipe

I've been emailing Samco who said they can make me up the couplings necessary to attach silicone pipes to the OEM intercooler and EGR valve, they look like this;

Once that pipe was installed and I used the cable tie locking method on the other pipes i've had no more problems, though I will still be replacing the upper pipes soon.

This weekend the car covered 550 miles on a trip from Kilmarnock to the Isle of Skye and back, done it in a tank and a quarter and that was with a very heavy right foot in places, heres some photo's;

Now I need to go empty and clean the car, also my Poorboys Black Hole arrived while I was away so this weekend the car will get a good detailing if the weathers good.

Lovely :thumbup:

Have they finished the roadworks in Skye yet though? :wonder:

Small update: Not been buying much this month as i've been saving up to have some parts of the car resprayed (bonnet, roof and spoiler). Anyway I have bought a few small things, a 60mm coupling and a vRS Dovit Stainless Boost Pipe from TrevorB33. I'm waiting to hear back from Samco about getting a 65mm coupling, a 65mm-50mm 90 degree reducing elbow and a 60mm-51mm 45 degree reducing elbow from them, both pipes in Lime Green to match the rest of the engine bay. I'm also waiting on delivery of a second hand exhaust system, which I have a few plans for.

On another note I now have the parts I need to finish my custom catch tank;

2011-05-11180340.jpg

2 x 19mm (3/4") ends for connecting the catch tank to the crankcase and inlet.

1 x Allen bolt drain plug.

I can now order a 1m length of 19mm Samco xtraflex hose in Lime Green now that I am sure the ends are the right size, going on previous experience this will take about 4 weeks to arrive. I also need to buy a Green Cotton Breather Cone aswell.

I'm also looking at purchasing a set of Koni STR.T Spring & Dampener Kit, if anyone has experience with this kit any info on it would be appreciated.

One of the other things im looking at doing is replacing my wing mirror glass for the blue tinted versions found in some VW models, if anyone knows what models are compatible it would be a big help, obviously they have to be heated aswell to work in the vRS.

I think thats everything for now :smirk:

dude re that 65mm coupler you need to check with them the size of the other side as though the bit that goes into the egr is 65mm they can do differing sizes for the silicone to attach to,

if you look here on forges website gives you some idea, ive brought a 51mm one before which attached to the 60mm fitting

http://www.forgemotorsport.com/content.asp?inc=product&cat=&product=FMABHC

they do 60mm 63mm and 68mm so it could actually be 63mm for the egr
