Or good old cable ties! :giggle:

Lol you might struggle with Cable ties :giggle:

I was considering doing this to my vRS hatch but as I'm selling it in the summer I'm not

 You cant have enough light in the boot. Looks excellent.

Now you can code the reversing lights going off, if you open the boot. (it is an option, I had it coded. But at the amount of light your boot has, it even makes sense :giggle: )

Yeah would be an improvement

Ideally I want to get all the bulbs to be LED in the Tail but don't want to be wiring in resistors.

I am sure i can find a way with cable ties! you can fix anything with cable ties

I can definitely do this in the Bora with the metal frame of the parcel shelf...need to take it off anyway and line with sponge as it rattles something chronic!

You dont need resistors. I had all the interior lights changed into LEDs and didnt have one with resistors.

There is no controlling of the interior lights, so no fault codes. Only thing that could be, is that one of the leds will glimm if the key is taken out.

But they will go out totally after a short while, when everything is shut off. (can bus goes to sleep).

I know the interior isn't. All the lights in the interior of mine along with the puddle lights, number plate and door warning lights are LED :)

I was referring to the Tail light unit.

Lol that's Black Masking tape. The whole of the MOD is held together with Black Nasty

The reason I ended up putting them where I did is because I wanted to hide the wires completely and not just disguise with tape.

Hauptmann's W5W bulbs (he supplied them for side light upgrade recently) fit perfectly and are a low cost way of improving boot lighting. I've fitted them to mine and it's a simple swop.

Yeah I had High Power LED in at first but it wasn't bright enough for me so I did this instead as I had them spare.

No lights at all in my boot, how easy would it be to fit some in the estate, also need some side cubby covers the bits with the knobs to undo for the rear sides like next to the oil can in pic 2

It should be the same process as what i did. You should have two lights 1 either side on the C Pillar near the cubby holes. The hardest bit is removing all the trim to hide all the wiring (although you only need to remove the plastic and not the side panels like i did.

You would probably have to try eGay or a dealer for the covers.

Would these work:

They have this thing called a pod that would fit nicely

:)

You will need two of them, one for each side

Honey, did you put the suitcases in the car?

Yes, they are on stage now :giggle:

IVE GOT THESE'S IN MY OCTY REALY BRIGHT AND A DRECT REPLACEMENT FOR OEM ONES

http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item3a5a4956bf

Now I like the look of those

Are they exactly the same size as the orginal ones?

Another nice mod Carl B)

Bloody hell though, I see what you mean about them being bright and the Pie not being able to capture it. Those side-on shots of the light 'escaping' from the boot are unreal!

Mine aren't working AT ALL at the moment, need to do some more troubleshooting to see if the lock assembly's failed. I have some W5W LEDs sat here though, so might try these just in case it's just some failed bulbs!

Steve

I fitted these. Very like the ebay ones above, albeit dearer :(

Good job though!

Does your boot look like the one in the picture?

Thankyou

Look forward to seeing the pictures.

Does the Octavia not come with footwell lights as standard?

Tim

No, not as standard Tim. The L&K model might have it maybe?

Skodaphile - how did you do the fitting of the footwell lights? Interested in fitting location and where you tapped power from. Cheers.

Courtesy lights in the doors, yes. Footwell lighting, nope! Unless the FL models or L&K have it. I think the L&K also comes with puddle lights under the wing mirrors.

EDIT: Ooops, posted at same time as Wardy!

@ Wardy: power from front 'dome' light, down A pillar, and under dash to left and right, then along transmission tunnel to under the front seats. If you get down in the rear footwell and look, you can see a rectangular opening in the rear of the front seat frame, which looks like it was designed especially for footwell lighting! Make sure you leave a little spare cable for sliding the seats!

I just used simple ebay LED 'boards' and stuck them in place with d/s tape. Finding the right connection on the interior light is the key-the footwell lights come on with the other interior lights, and 'fade' out with them too! B)

My car is an L&K.

It has the Puddle lights as mentioned above and the courtesy lights.

However it doesn't have Footwell lighting. I'm not aware of any Skoda's that do. Except maybe an Elegance Spec Superb. But i haven't looked at the Specs for the higher trim level Octy/Superb so not sure. But Pre-Fl Octavia none has unless they are retro-fitted

The MKI Superb in Comfort spec and above has them as std, as well as the MKII Superb Elegance (not sure about the SE)

Didn't know the comfort did. I thought it was just Elegance spec and above

Wing mirror puddle lighting on the Octy std on the Elegance and L&K. Now an option I believe on the FL vRS?

Thanks for the info on the footwell light routing. I've actually got a set of OEM Skoda lights with some wiring knocking about. And yes, knew about the little cutout under the seats, but a top tip for others! It's like it was meant to be ;)

On the dome light feed - did you just splice a wire in then shrinkwrap/solder up again?
