How to fit Audi TT/Porsche 996 Seats a Guide

Featured Replies

Not done any tests to prove but lecture at uni says you cant pull more than .9g under braking without slicks or downforce. (He used to work for prodrive so probally knows his stuff).

Umm.. ru sure about that. Im pretty sure cars are capable of pulling 2 g's.

I can't surf too well as I'm on mobile atm but maybe have a Google of how many g's a car can pull. Will check later also.

"The expression "1 g = 9.806 65 m/s 2 " means that for every second that elapses, velocity changes 9.806 65 meters per second (≡35.303 94 km/h). This rate of change in velocity can also be denoted as 9.806 65 (meter per second) per second, or 9.806 65 m/s 2 . For example: An acceleration of 1 g equates to a rate of change in velocity of approximately 35 kilometres per hour (22 mph) for each second that elapses. Therefore, if an automobile is capable of braking at 1 g and is traveling at 35 kilometres per hour (22 mph) it can brake to a standstill in one second and the driver will experience a deceleration of 1 g. The automobile traveling at three times this speed, 105 km/h (65 mph), can brake to a standstill in three seconds."

basically ive made some new one piece brackets out of 10mm steel, lol abit overkill but oh well, made some aluminium spacers for the tunnel side too as it would be sitting at a fair angle without them, also sorted the front of the seats runners out as they have little lugs that stopped the runners sitting flush, so dremmelled thses off and tapped the bracket up to sit flush, now these can either be welded to the runner for extra strength or just use a big washer as this will push the runner down and hold it in place too.

the bits that need cutting

gonna spray the brackets black then its all done, just need to get a couple of longer bolts as i run out, as i didnt want to use the originals now they have less thread holding them with the 10mm bracket.

No one has posted in this for a while or any threads in regards to the Porsche seats. Just a heads up, bought some 996 seats to go in as everyone seems to have done the tt ones..... Yeaaaaa so it turns out that they are not the same.. TT seats have the room to move over to the left on drivers but porsche seats do not, Had my guy try to make some similar brackets at first and found no matter what i was over to the right from the steering wheel with no clearence on the left hand side to move it over more.. after many frustrating hours i had my guy cut the old seat bracket and make a plate to bolt the 996 seats to my old runners which hes actually doing right now. so just a warning if you go for 996 seats its not as easy as the tt seats. illl do a post with em in soon
