Another Yeti windscreen goes....

Featured Replies

Had a stone hit the screen this afternoon, huge bang. Has left a crater right in front of the driver and will have to be replaced. Autoglass don't have the heated screen in stock, so will be next Tuesday before they can do it.

Andy

I think yours is the second heated Yeti screen to go this week... I know of one other... :wonder: Hope it gets replaced soon though.

Yeah. Mine.

Autoglas haven't given me a date yet. Said it was on back order. I hope you get yours when planed.

Mike

To AndyC & rockhopper, hope you both get your windscreens replaced soon.

This is why Kitten and I didn't opt for the hearted screen.

I had a call this morning, They are coming tomorrow afternoon to fit it.emoticon-0100-smile.gif

Just had my screen replaced. Because it was a heated screen with all the sensors, it took a little longer as the earthing strip is behind the reading lights, and you have to take them all out to get to it.

It all seems to be working, but not had a chance to test the heated screen. All sensors checked apart from the dimming mirrors.

Nice to have a non cracked screen again.

You can now add my Yeti to the growing list of Yetis with a broken windscreen! Grrr. I heard the whack, but was about 100 meters behind a motorbike on the A2. Though it weird and thought of how much of the motorbike's wheel I could see and how stupid it is that they don't have better mudguards... Then the next day got in the car to find a huge 20cm gash running from the bottom right corner up. Grrr. Not in my field of view yet so will sort at some point...

Hi Johann,

emoticon-0106-crying.gif to hear you've been in the wars too. Sounds very similar to the Pat Monster in that the stone hit the windscreen early in the morning but not until I retuned to her in the late afternoon did I notice a crack had appeared :(

Well I finally got around to having the windscreen replaced. They are still busy but this was moments ago:

They also fixed two tiny cracks on the V5 - with resin. One Autoglass man two jobs done. I hope he fixes everything back as it should be!

They did seem to take a lot of trim out when they changed mine, but the fitter was careful and everything went back without a scratch. Very impressed.

Well I'm not home today so have not seen their work yet. And even if I was home, the light sensors and things can only be tested as working at night or in the rain!

Read somewhere that windscreens generally are being made thinner to save weight (also money!).

Personally I would rather wait a couple of days longer for a replacement and enjoy the advantages of the screen heating in the winter months - for quick demisting as well as defrosting.

I've only had one windscreen replacement in around 650,000 miles of motoring (due to hitting an animal at night) - including 165,000 miles behind Jaguar heated screens. Meanwhile my wife has had two (Golf and Yeti, both unheated) in about 200,000 miles - both stone chips which developed quickly into cracks. Make of that what you will.

Crikey,I've had 2 windscreens go in the last 6 months.Prior to that it was 2 in the last 40 years.

I put it down to the lovely condition of our road surfaces these days.

I cracked my rover screen when the wiper blade arm I was changing the blade on snapped back in the wind and hit the screen...:-(

Never had a screen problem in the last 15 years of driving.

I'm surprised you didn't get a parking ticket. Croydon Council would have given you one emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

The MX-5 has to park in the same fashion to be at all able to fit two cars in that bay. Obviously the A2 and the MX-5 did this better! But all eight the wheels are within the painted box and thus I've never received a ticket on either car!

I thought a V5 was a registration document?..... :wonder:

Hehehe No that is a V5C. This one is a 170bhp five cylinder Golf IV with a Tiptronic gearbox. Sounds SUBLIME!!!!

Another Yeti windscreen gone!

Hit right at the top of the screen in the black area by something, presumably a stone, that came of a lorry going in the opposite direction. Too close to the edge to repair as a chip, so new heated windscreen - not in stock anywhere in the Auto glass system. Will cost me my excess but not my NCD.

Gosh, I hope it fits without planing!

I cracked my windscreen last summer, but stil i do not changed. I thinking to change with a heated windscreen. It possible. I need to by many things? The cost may be higher?

On my last yeti I had to have the widescreen replaced TWICE due to stones whacking it.

Grrr!
