Forge pipework size for the Seat intercooler?

Featured Replies

Ye its not too great is it, just thought in terms of overall layout really

just looking how tight the bend is surely that would restrict the flow? :o

ive been thinking of trying to get hold of one of those things forge give you to link your standard pipes to regular silicone ones, fairly sure i can get them made up locally! thing is that people are having to pay 250 pounds for that forge pipe kit! when you can easily buy the component parts for half that! its just uncertainty with measurements. Also one thing that plays on my mind is that dual pass core in the seat kit, compared to a single pass design they arent anywhere near as good, remember thats a OEM part which is designed with cost in mind, the pro alloy one jabba sell looks more like it! but then it should for 800 quid! i think if you so single pass and twice as thick as the seat one that would be spot on!

i spotted this car at dubfreeze last week, sorry if its anyones off here but i was just really looking at the intercooler set up

Sorry what? Dual pass is worse than single pass?

Where's the evidence for this?

common sense really /\ you will get pressure drop through a twin pass

but the SEAT sport fmic is huge!

for the price i wouldnt consider anything else

Pressure drop is dependent on the internal dimensions and obstructions within the intercoooler cavity, not the fact it's dual pass or not.

always read you get a bit of drop through a twin pass...

say the cores were exactly the same (same company) same size everything

one was a single pass and one was a twin pass...

whats going to have better flow? single pass surely...

i read somewhere that each 90 degree bend in a intercooler setup equates to 5% pressure drop

The pipework that fits on the turbo: Is it 51mm diameter?

Nail on head right there.

Nevermind the fact that the Seat Sport cooler is crap and leaks due to rubbish welds on the left.. not worth it if your going for anything near 1.8Bar.

Not at all. It's simple fluid mechanics, bernoullis equation.

If theres a pressure drop, the speed actually increases.

Oh, I've never heard of an seat intercooler popping, have you got a link for this?

Only experience x2 for me

Whilst another hybrid owner has had the same issue with his, also x2
