My rear wiper fell off!

Featured Replies

I've had a look back through some old threads of a similar nature but there doesn't seem to be any obvious answers to this situation...

Yesterday my rear wiper fell off - I'm not sure exactly what happened as the other half had it at the time. We couldn't find the arm anywhere on the road, having gone back that evening to try and find it. I've got a collection of bits including a spring and the cap, but everything else has gone. Is this a simple replacement job, and if so what part should I be asking for?

It's a 2005 Fabia Ambiente 16V if that's any use.

Many thanks in advance.

Fell off? Or ripped off by some chav scum?

I've never had to replace one, but in theory it should be as simple as undoing the nut holding the remaining wiper arm, putting a new wiper arm on and tightening it up. Someone else should be able to confirm whether or not there is more to it...

I'm told that it fell off as she was driving. From the remaining bits it looks like a pretty clean break though so it's a bit of a mystery.

There's not much in the way of chav scum round these 'ere rural parts but it wouldn't surprise me!

I thought the same as you - the motor is still intact and working perfectly so it should just be a case of getting a new arm put on, but I haven't got a clue where to find one of those!

Your nearest Skoda dealer should be able to order one up, or you might be lucky to find one at your nearest scrap yard, also don't forget to check ebay...

Exactly how mine was about 2 months ago !!

I presumed it had been broken off, maybe not, as it looked exactly the same as yours !

But as you say, undo the nut, and pop the new arm on.

Dont forget to make sure it's lined up properly, unlike i did, so it parks a little lower than it should :D

Get on ebay mate or find someone on here breaking a fabia. Make sure you dont over tighten the nut when refitting as you'll end up needing a new threaded spindle.
