vRS TDI badge differences

Featured Replies

I know theyre different on golfs for a reason but ive noticed a few different badges on the vrs engine covers. Some have a silver TDi badge like mine....

And ive seen some with a TDi or TDi on them (red letters!)

Whats the difference in engines or is it just what people put on?

I think it's something to do with power output.

Ie, the TDi is a 90bhp unit, TDi is 110bhp, or whatever.

Think its the normal tdi is a 110

tdi with the red 1 is a 130 and the one with all red is a 150 iirc

Just about to put this...

On mine B)

As you state, on the VWs the coloured letters denote the bhp of that

particular engine. They use the all red TDI on the 150bhp Bora Sport for example.

I suppose the correct one to fit to a standard untuned Fabby vRS engine cover to ensure accuracy

would be the silver T, red D and red I which corresponds to the VW 130bhp variant.

I just thought all red would look cool B)

Good stuff! Ill be getting a TDi badge off ebay then i think!

vw also do a tdi badge where the 'i' is blue think its mainly on the vw transporters but looks cool IMO. defo different to the usually red ones you see

I'm sorry, but this has to be the saddest thread on here. You'll be wanting a carbon fibre OSIR under-bonnet Flak Jacket next.

Sorry mate but tell someone who cares. Clearly its a thread about why the badges are different and the reasons for the difference. If its the saddest thread youve seen then why are you reading and posting in it? Go and find somewhere else to Troll.

Having made over 1800 mostly useful posts and being a FREEDOM member, hence contributing to the running of this site, he's hardly a Troll!!!

Anyway, for what it's worth I think all Furbys have a silver TDI badge on the engine cover - my last one (a 1.9 100PD) did and pretty sure my vRS has. Any differences then are probably down to the vanity of the owner :giggle:

My Fabia TDi (PD100) has a silver T and red Di on the engine cover

If the red bits indicate a bit of horse power, that's not saying much for our vrs's then if they're all silver??

I'm getting some red ones. :giggle:

All silver was the vRS standard on the engine cover...

Some people may have just added different badges themselves ?

My SE has black lettering...maybe it has 000bhp?

I'm assuming it was people getting excited about changing the TDI badge on the engine cover that was sad? The reasoning behind the different colouring on the TDI badges is kinda interesting, geeky but interesting

Geeky is good

My TSI badge is: TSI. The lower-powered 122hp version has a TSI badge

* please note: black denotes silver, which doesn't show up very well on the screen

It's right (according to a friend that worked for VW) that the colours represent HP, probably only the case on non-PD engines.
