Roomster versus Jazz?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am desparate to get a Roomster but they aren't many available here in Northern Ireland, as you can see, =85&location[]=86&location[]=87&location[]=88&location[]=89&location[]=90"]My link

A dealer has offered me a 2008 Roomster 1.4 16v level 1, 30,000 miles for £5495.

I'd prefer a 1.4TDI, like the Polo I currently own and a Level 2 for air conditioning etc.

Is this price any good, usedcarexpert says yes?

I know a private seller with a 2007 Honda Jazz 1.4 SE 42,000 miles for £4995.

The Roomster would probably be nicer to drive and more space, but the reliability of the Jazz is appealing.

Has anyone here driven both?

Cheers,

Neil

The Roomster is much bigger and more flexible inside... The Jazz is a good buy, but you need to ask yourself if you need the extra space and flexibility, if the answer is yes then hold out for the Roomster... Reliability? Skodas are just as reliable as Hondas these days...

As regards engine, have you tried a Skoda dealer, they may be able to get a used one from another dealer for you? If you want diesel then don't compromise with a petrol... btw the 1.9TDi is just as economical as the 1.4!

Hello, thanks for the reply.

The car offered was from one of the main Skoda dealers, but I'm sure they'll keep me posted of any new stock.

Yes, probably best to hold out for a diesel, although people on this forum seem to like the 1.4 16V petrol OK.

I only do 7000-8000 miles a year (though should increase when I have Roomster and the space to fit child, dog and all their paraphernalia), but if I can get a diesel for around the same price that would be perfect.

I also think the Roomster would handle the country roads over here better than the Jazz, as well as being even more practical.

I've never been in a Roomster, but I find my relatives' Jazzes very hard riding and not very well handling compared with my Octy.

Hang out for a diesel Roomster. If you like diesels, stick with them. Sounds like the dealer is just trying to off load an unappealing basic model.

Have you looked on the Skoda official site, as there is a link to dealer stock so you should be able to see who has what .

Thanks,

I tried this, nothing really suitable (for me) available in Northern Ireland.

This would be perfect, except it's 300 miles (and across the Irish sea) away in Winchester

Skoda Roomster 1.4TDI Level 2 28,000 miles £5995

I can wait, I suppose that's part of the appeal, that they're relatively rare.

Have you asked your dealer whether he could get it for you? I know that sometimes they can move s/hand stock around so it may be worth asking...

Cheap flight into Southampton. Drive and Ferry home with new Roomster. Job Done!!
