The 5 door VRS Whore.

Featured Replies

Well after becoming a member on here ages ago and my account messing up ive decided to make another and start my build thread on here.

My car history had to be started with a classic a mini. What a great little car but i had quite a few rust issues, but luckily it has found a new owner just before chritmas 2010. Well i saving up as much as i can but had my eyes only set for a fabia vrs and working for a Skoda and Seat dealer i know the pretty much good/bad points, and i was like i had to get one. i searched high and low for the best one i could find within a certain price range. After travelling 200 odd miles i came back with a little beauty.

so heres goes from the very begining to the never ending.......

MAKE: Skoda

MODEL: Fabia VRS

YEAR: 2004

ENGINE: 1.9 Tdi

SPEC: Factory Xenons, Cruise Control, Arm rest, PD160 air intake and a remap by 'Red Dot Racing' putting it to 173.8 BHP and 249.6 ft-ib of Torque and usual VRS standard equipment.

I bought this as a great starting point with alot of potential.

This is how it stands when i first bought it.

Firstly after having a better look over it at work i got straight to making a list of things it needed.

New bits ordered.:cup holder, oil and filter, rear washer cap and washer mod clip, fixed the traction control button and fitted the stereo properly, vaxed the seats and sorting out tiny little odds and sods that annoy me, o and a new set of number plates too.

after seeing a few other people fabia's i decided i got a Leon Cupra R front spillter and a Seat Sport Strut Brace i quickly ordered those up too. :) the strut brace completely stiffens up the front end.

Right i got staright to work with taking the standard side strips, i used a heat gun and a plastic wedge and then they pretty much just fell off.

after removed

Now it was time where everyone has to make a decision on what wheels. Theres always alot of choice out there. luckily my mate has a fabia vrs too and he bought some wheels for his and his already come with octavia vrs spyders already powder coated graphite grey so i had to snap them up, so i did and even got them at mates rates too.

Wheels on :)

Well end of the month came and i was fed up of driving a 4x4 around and the boaty feel when going round a corner. i did a bit of research to what people thought of which coilovers to go for. i was roped into fitting a set of JOM coilovers on my mates fab and he was really pleased with the quality so i just had to get me a set.

After a few days these bad boys arrived.

IMG_0247.jpg

So all plans went out the window until these were on.

Coilovers on.

I wasnt happy how the front was sitting so i lowered it some more.

More updates will be soon.

let me know what you think?

Looking good

To stop the boaty feel, you need a Rear Anti-Roll Bar.. Made the biggest improvement for a very reasonable outlay

yes the list i have is getting rather long. i want a rear strut brace too. ill get them soon :) money stops everything :(

coilovers make a car...

silver with anthracite octy spiders slammed is a good combo

Now that is a good looking furby. Rear ARB next... job done

really really nice mate!! dunno why but i like the look of the car even more with the xenons!

good example of a vrs that mate, tasteful mods so far too :)

Standard Fabia vRS look gash, especially with 17" alloys.

Once them coilovers went on it totally changed the look of the car and actually makes it look good, standard ride height is stupid.

B)

Colour code the door handles/number plate surround and get some plain plates. :)

Much prefer original wheels, goes a bit yucky with them black ones.

Otherwise thumbs up.emoticon-0148-yes.gif

that looks **** hot mate, love the sidestrips removed on yours, looks so much better. i removed mine for various reasons on my black one but you can really tell on the silver car, great work.

One last thing i take it you have no adjuster cups in the back? sorry if i missed this in the thread.

What he says

Great job so far, two basic mods make it look stunning - lowering and vRS spiders... everyone does it but it works well!

ideas and thoughts please :)

nice motor looks mint not too low just about right

That looks really nice mate - darker wheels look fab on silver cars. The red Fabia in your pic looks fantastic too!

If it was mine i'd probably change the B-pillars to black (i'm sure black covers were available from somewhere), and maybe even a black roof would look good!

Keep up the good work

B pillar covers...

- OEM Skoda ones in the accessories catalogue.

- Milotec? or super skoda (carbon look?) ones.

There are a few makes out there.

thoughts ?

One of the nicest looking Fabia's out there IMO

Nice wheels on the red Fabia - are they genuine BBS RS's or fake splits?

Could be Calibre Vintage alloys or Lenso BBS copies...

  • Author

Yeah there fake. There calibre vintage wheels.

UPDATE.UPDATE UPDATE.

right car was off to the body shop to have a few things sprayed and re-done. well when i brought the car the near-side fog lamp had fallen apart,i got the body shop to fit my new one for me while the front bumper was off.

IMG_0411.jpg

work done:

colour coded door handles

front bumper completely re-sprayed

IMG_0414.jpg

the driverside completely re-sprayed

IMG_0415.jpg

IMG_0413.jpg

IMG_0412.jpg

near-side rear quarter.

well 3-4 days later it was time to pick up the fab and see the finished project for the time being til i have other bits done at some point when money allows it.

straight out the body-shop, removed all centre caps as new ones are on order.

IMG_0425.jpg

IMG_0424.jpg

IMG_0423.jpg

in the week i realised my centre wheel caps were looking tatty. so i ordered 4x new octavia vrs centres and some high performance gear oil as i dont think the oil has been changed ever in the gearbox.

after doing some research on front rear wishbone bushes, i decided i didnt want the poly route so as i was mooching about i ended up getting a set of ibiza cupra R solid consol bushes, which i fitted that shame weekend and they make such a difference to steering feedback etc. as i dont them at work i never had to drop the sub-frame down as theres a special tool that you can do in situ on the car.

IMG_0417.jpg

weekend of 26th & 27th march came and so did fast show so the car got heavly cleaned and put away under covers with my mates vrs too. morning came so the cars came out to have the first picture of the weekend.
