Side strip removal

Featured Replies

I was thinking of removing my side strips this weekend on my vrs? Has anyone done this. Reading a few threads I hear you can get paint bubbling underneath? Is this common? Any pics?

I think it depends on the colour of the Fab, What colours yours?

Black! you just commented on my progress thread stefan!

I took them off my Fabia when I bought it 2nd hand. So they were about 7years old at that point. I had paint bubbling on 3 out of the 4doors, so pretty ugly looking if I'm honest.

Took it back to the dealer and they didn't wanna know. So I've touched them up with paint. If it did bother me that much I could always buy some new rub strips again and go back to sqaure 1.

yeah i have a silver vrs and its down to moister underneath the laquer one on my doors has got this. i used a heat gun and plastic trim wedge and lots of tar and glue. i was annoyed when this happened. so its off toi be sorted soon :)

Mine has it aswell (56 plate silver) also noticed the other day that there are bubbbles on the bottom inside edge of the back doors where they touche the seal when theyre closed :(

Took mine off when the car was 2 years old, no bubbling at all. A hairdyer and a bit of 'bug & tar remover' sorted it out fine.

id like to take mine off but as said above abit worried about leaving bubbling, not so fussed as my car is black tho

Anyone removed the sidestrips on an SE?

mine are staying on just incase.... i did it on 1 of my old cars and ended up buying new strips allround due to the mess underneath :wonder:

I think it's worth the gamble of taking them off.

They look horrid on anything other than a black car
